    Default How can we get the AI to recruit agents?

    Hi guys,

    I have been getting this problem in my mod where the AI seems to stop recruiting agents. Whats strange though is some factions still recruit plenty of agents while the others have only a princess. This seems to be random and I cannot figure out what is the cause :hmmm:It is definately not anything to do with the AI getting into debt. As I observed factions with plenty of florins having this problem too.

    I have also noticed this problem in other mods for M2TW as well. This is not just restricted to Kingdoms Grand Campaign Mod. I am aware that my use of recruit priority offset settings may be the cause here. But I am not really sure if there is another reason. Has anyone found the answer to this riddle yet? Please let me know I would like to fix this.

    Have you looked at the mod's log?

    Maybe this is a bug that you must fix (just an idea).

    PS: What turn do the AI factions stop to recruit characters in?

    I suspect (nothing more) that the recruitment of agents depends on the strategic situation.

    If there's no need for priests it doesn't recruit more, ditto diplomats etc. also if there's an immediate need for soldiers it'll prefer to do that.

    I've not seen similar for merchants, spies etc so assume it's hard coded - or nobody has worked out the way the game decides?

    Have you tried examining a trace log or LTGD trace (I presume you probably have) to see if they feature in the recruitment (I have a feeling they do, but don't have access to my old files atm.)

    (The AI uses the building advisor to decide what buildings to build - but I don't know what controls the agent recruitment (if you let the AI control you own forces it happily recruits soldiers but never (in my experience) agents - that's left to the human to do.)

    Thanks guys, yes I have checked the trace log but there seems to be nothing in their that would indicate a problem. Maybe Rozanov is right, maybe the AI mostly builds agents at the start of the campaign and then doesn't bother much after that. One thing I have noticed, the muslim factions have no princesses in my mod and they always got diplomats.

    Also even if the college of cardinals runs very low. I have never seen the game crash because of a lack of cardinals. The game always seems to find one from somewhere. I think I will just try using that link anyway to increase the numbers of priests.

    Your recruit priority offsets may be too high, causing the AI to focus on units and not spend any money on agents.
