Legolas was from Mirkwood, and unless I'm mistaken Faction heirs cannot be built in SS.

Hehe, I know..actually I was making a joke there! You spoke of a Third Age LOTR modification, and I was referring to third age of life, like when you get old..nevermind!

Indeed they're making some good progress in TATW, unlike some other anticipated mods..

I know what you mean. Dawn of War II is released in a little over 3 weeks. Yet another thing to cut into my modding time!

To get back on topic, I suggest you do what delra said. Test it in a custom battle

I tested it.

It was quite funny in fact.

I created a stack of Retinue Longbowmen (my stack) and put it against a stack of Kwarezmian Elephants (armoured ones with two handgunners on their backs). I picked Easy since I didn't want them to overthink it.

I put my army in a long single line with stakes up front and waited for elephants to come. Told my archers "Hold your fire".

Elephants came charging at me head on... and stopped 20m from the stakes so the guys on their back could shoot my archers without charging.

I was confused for a few seconds and after that I told my stack of Retinue to open fire using flaming arrows.

After a few salvos hell broke loose. Half of enemy stack of elephants went crazy and started running around in panic knocking each other down, all under the rain of fire from my longbows.

Eventually a few of them left the main group and ran in panic into my stack. This was the moment when I could see if stakes work on them or not.

... And I won't tell you if they do. You have to see that for yourself. Muahahah. :-)

Stakes don't work on armoured elephants.
