    Default Gay Dutch soldiers object to Gay Pride ban!

    http://www.expatica.com/nl/news/loca...ban_45317.html

    Update:
    A motion is accepted by the second chamber, so soldiers are now allowed to wear their uniform at the gay parade.
    The motion was done by right wing parties, something that I don't really understand to be honest.

    What do you think about this?
    Personally I find it a disgrace for the military, heroes fought for their country in those uniforms why let gays literally dick waving in it?
    It's dishonorable....

    Ahh please don't start the discussion about if soldiers are heroes.
    I just put it like that, because I find everyone who risks their lives for the benefit of society heroes.
    Do you think this is something that is normal? Or should be allowed?

    Benefit of society? A soldier, unless revolutionary, never risk his life for the benefit of society, rather for the benefit of some big shot capitalist that holds the strings.

    Being military, I can see where the government's coming from on this. Yes the ban is a curtailment of freedoms. However the soldiers are representing their nation {24hrs a day} and the minute chance of scandal is frankly too much of a burden to bear. { What I mean is if a soldier acts the fool it would be blown into a NATIONAL scandal.}

    {Thanks Atterdag for everything you do here.}

    Agreed, this is what I wanted to see.
    Thank you unforgiving hired killer who kills in the name of oil and capitalism!

    Considering that they are soldiers that have either fought or/and served the country, I don't see why not. People who have never served in the military shouldn't criticise them for disgracing something they never were a part of, whereas they are.

    Though it depends on what they are going to do with it. If they are going to be honorable, like ''GAYS CAN SERVE THE COUNTRY WITHOUT ING UP TOO'' in a convential military parade, then yes. If they're going to about, no.

    I kinda agree in some way, but not fully.
    I hope for a reply from former or people who are still in the military.

    Yep now I agree more.
    But to be honest not fuly, because I know from friends who already joined that they are not allowed to wear their uniform after 6 o clock (evening).
    And not allowed to wear it to non military parties ofcourse.
    Why would we allow this then?

    I saw it recently because there was a motion, ah the bureaucracy..
    I wouldn't call it an obsession.
    I just like uniforms and all that, I also want to join the military so yes I am interested in the military but not obessed with what soldiers wear come on.

    Oh no harm done, it was just that it was posted in the mudpit. August last year is like geological time in there. Now that it's been moved all is well.
    And yeah, you're obsessed. Whether or not soldiers who happen to be gay choose to wear their uniform at some gay pride parade shouldn't be of any concern imo. I'm sure they know that the uniform makes them "representatives" of the system in which they have their daily life.
    Plus, let's not underestimate how sexy men in uniform actually are. I completely understand why they would want to wear something that makes them look good.

    Besides having weird aberrant sex in the frontlines and forcing heterosexual troops to conform to their notions of whats "fair', I don't see a problem with it.

    The article is about the Dutch Armored Forces and the OP is Dutch. If one soldier gets in a fight, gets raped, executes a rape, etc, ad infinitum.

    If that didn't get it please spell out what your asking like I'm a three year old.... I'm kinda dense sometimes{combat training}
