Weird noise problem

I bought and installed the Med2 Gold Edition about 3 weeks ago. It seems to run fine generally, but occasionally I experience a problem where the screen freezes for 10-15 seconds, usually accompanied by an automatic drill noise. It seems to be particularly bad when I have both music and special effects on, but sometimes it happens when both are silent. Interestingly, it seems to be worse when playing Kingdoms, so I tried lowering the video settings to the absolute minimum for most of them. This only appears to make it slightly worse.According to the sysreqs, my computer is definitely capable of running the game (I managed the recommended specs). Does anyone have any idea what is causing it?

Two things come to mind. Your speakers are uninsulated and you have a lot of outside interference like power equipment and cb radios. Maybe your ipod interfering.

As Irish said, could be your speakers or your sound card. Make sure your speakers are functioning correctly, by doing speaker tests. Make sure you have the latest drivers for your sound card.

EDIT: The screen freezing and then drilling noise part makes me think that it could be CPU or fan related. Check to see that your fan/cooling is working properly and see if your CPU is not overheating.
