Default MWT2 - Excommunications Ancillarires Trait Tips

    Hey guys
I recently bought this MTW2 and i been playing for 2 days and i went up to 53 turns. I had some missions where i should ceasefire with french armies or pope will excommunicate my leaders. But i had to go war with these french armies to get some land.

    i have few questions.
    1) How do i fix my excommunication so i can start a crusader in my faction since i got the pope.

    2) What are the best Ancillarires to be used in the game?

    3) What is the best Armies to be used in battles? You top 5 set

    4) How do i increase the family chain? any idea of getting new family member?

    Thanks Guys

    1. You will reconciled when your king or the pope dies. You can also send a diplomat to the papal states and ask for a reconciliation.

    2. I never bother so I don't know.

    3. That depends on the faction and your playing stile. Spears and cavalry for anti cavalry role, swordsmen to kill enemy infantry and some or a lot of archers.

    4. If you are short on generals sent an army led by a captain and kill some rebels. There is a high chance that you will get a general offered for adoption.

    Welcome to the game.
Officer to a soldier who refuses to fight: There three types of soldiers who don't have to fight. They are called KIA, MIA and POW and you are not one of them.

    Tosa will be missed.

Let me be the first to welcome you here in the TCW forums.
Now for your questions, could you give some more details? do you mean that a priest of your own has been elected for pope?
Ancillaries for what, assassin, priest, general?
I've been playing mods more than vanilla and I wouldn't know them immediatly, except retinue longbowmen, jannisary gunners and Camel gunners.
Increasing Family's well... you could adopt more people, send armies into big battles without generals and their captains will soon be able for adoption.

    Good luck with the campaign.

    I am requesting best tips.

-One of my priest became a pope, before he became a pope i failed to keep the ceasefire against french nation. Therefore the former pope excommunicated me. Therefore i cant start any crusader wars.

-I want to know the best of the best Ancillaries for General, Princess, Assassins and Priest.

-Yes i have been sending my Captains to fight the war, Most of them got adopted in to the family tree.

-Can you provide some good way to increase the religion in a different factions?

**thank you Monsieur Alphonse for welcoming me to the forum**

To start a crusade you need to wait for the pope to or order you to crusade somewhere or request a crusade on a target of your choosing. If the Pope agree's to a crusade then you need to select a general who is attached to a half stack of about 8 units. Click on the general and near the bottom below the traits and ancillaries window you will see a small 'join crusade' button. Click that and you will able to join the crusade. If there is a cross through this button then that means you are excommunicated or there is no pope at the moment.

You should have been reconciled when a new pope was elected to office, no matter if he was your own or not. To be excommunicated again you must have disobeyed his orders somehow, probably by attacking France. Check to see other factions crosses in the pope information window to see if the pope likes them or not, the lower the crosses the less the pope will care if you attack them.

A quick solution to being reconciled is to either kill your own faction leader or kill the pope. Either of these events happening will get you reconciled.

    4) If your Faction Leader or Faction Heir is unmarried, send a diplo to talk to any princess on the strategic map. Offer to have her marry your Faction Leader/Heir. If you have any princesses and they aren't getting offers of marriage, you can send them out looking for AI faction generals that are unmarried. Have the princess try to marry him, if successful he becomes a general for your faction and appears on the family tree.

If you're offered a general to marry one of your princesses, look at his age. If he's middle aged or old, he'll probably not have many (or any) children. Better to refuse him and wait for a better offer.
