I can't remember where, but a long time ago on a forum far,far away i saw this guy who completed a turkish LONG campaign in 26 turns

I genuinely don't think he cheated as he described every single move, he just abused the jihads

I personally take my time so i cant really say, tbh i don't even finish most of my campaigns as it gets boring when you reach the point where you can take on any faction and win

I enjoy the role playing aspects of the campaign so my style is a bit differant from others. To be honest, I do not even make a note of what turn each campaign ends. Hmmmm.

i've finished a portuguese Short Campaign in like 20 turns, just conquered whole iberian peninsula southern france and african moorish provinces. I've finished a Long Campaign playing as the Templars in Stainless Steel in like 120 turns.. it was one of the hardest campaigns i ever had, only then i realized the meaning of the Total War part of this series games.. have you ever been in a campaign where you get your most important cities besieged every single turn? i was at war with egypt from since the beginning of the game and allied with the turks, but because a frigging error of mine i attacker a turkish fleet (thought it was egyptian, i was distracted).. so now i had to deal with turkey and egypt... both of them sending lots and lots of full stacks against me.. jeez if it werent for those Templar Guards and Templar Zweihander i wouldve lost.. the war came to a close when i conquered egypt (finally) and then moved on turkey.. moors.. and after that what was left of byzantium (only the isles lol) and then i rampaged through both sides of europe xD that was like germany's blizkrieg.. i had lots of fun with those templars

IIRC the record for a long campaign is eight turns and the record for capturing all regions (except America) is 21.

    thats just NOT possible! :hmmm:

But my record for a short Venician campaing was 17 turns, but more than half of the byzantine empire collapsed into rebellion once I started assassenating all their generals, so it wasn't very fair.

Record for a long campaing, since im a role playing junky with this game, would be 312 turns haha

The guys who did this post at the Org (totalwar.org). One of the is Askthepizzaguy (aka ATPG) and the other is I think Grog. Just visit that forum and use the search button. They use the HRE for the campaign and the Turks for the world blitz. And yes they abused the Jihad.

how is that even possible? surely movement radii alone for armies would prevent that sort of lightning fast game...

they "abuse" jihad/crusade to get almost double movement and alot of very cheap strong units.

my best (and only ) campaign is a short France in 57 turns. Funny thing was next turn the mongols arrived. How crap must that be for them to join the game just to realise somebody else won it 1 turn before??

As has been said, someone used the Turks to conquer every non-American province in 24-26 turns or so. It's done simply by Jihad abuse. If each army leaves then joins the Jihad every turn, there's no desertion (which can be kept up for 10 turns), plus free upkeep. Add in the fact his armies are composed of Horse Archers & spamming Mercenaries allows for pretty easy conquests. After the initial Jihad ends, another can be declared after 10 turns, so effectivly two Jihads are used. Also, he would conquer a province ignoring stuff inbetween then expand from there with a HA stack and a Mercenary stack, so he'd be pretty overstretched at times, but constant sacking and free upkeep would mean he'd be alright for money.

Personally, i've completed Long Campaign goals in 40-50 turns or so if I keep assaulting, without abusing Jihads.

How long did you need to complete that. Someone at the Org did it in four hours to prove that is was possible.

I have finished once a long campaign in about 30-40 turns. With France. I cant remember, i have won 8 long campaigns in M2TW alone, and about 4 or 5 in RTW.

I have won a short campaign with France in about 15 turns. Just take all the troops you can out of your cities and send them off to attack the nearest rebel settlements. I think France and HRE start off with the most troops so you can expand aggressively and win easily by doing this.
