    Default gps rebels pirates

I am trying to play as the good guy and not trespass over foreign lands without militairy agreement...

So I manage to get my lonely ship (the next comes after 10 turns) to transport a governor (since the other one will die) to my conquered crusade target....

and BAM I get hit by 9 rebel ships the very next turn... It happenes both in 5.74 and 5.8....(and very few AI normal ships)

So has this been fixed in 6.0???

There is no coastguard in the dark seas of DLV. Later on, they will be nutrolised by other factions or scared by your big fleet. Dont worry.

I'm currently play as England now. The 1st crusade led my heir to the Ayyubid capital of Cairo. Just after the sccesful crusade(1h), my general was just promoted to Knight Banneret, and my King died back in London. So I jumped on the 2 first mercenary ships headed for London. But when I got to Sicily, I was ambused by a pack of pirat fleets. '

Any way, my uncrowned King & Knight Commander died that day on the ship of the coast of Italy. I had to start all over again, training a new general. Man I was pist!Any way, the thing is to just keep going with what you have. Don't reload!

Thorolf was thus armed. Then Thorolf became so furious that he cast his shield on his back, and, grasping his halberd with both hands, bounded forward dealing cut and thrust on either side. Men sprang away from him both ways, but he slew many. Thus he cleared the way forward to earl Hring's standard, and then nothing could stop him. He slew the man who bore the earl's standard, and cut down the standard-pole. After that he lunged with his halberd at the earl's breast, driving it right through mail and body, so that it came out at the shoulders; and he lifted him up on the halberd over his head, and planted the butt-end in the ground. There on the weapon the earl breathed out his life in sight of all, both friends and foes. [...] 53, Egil's Saga
I must tell you here of some amusing tricks the Comte d'Eu played on us. I had made a sort of house for myself in which my knights and I used to eat, sitting so as to get the light from the door, which, as it happened, faced the Comte d'Eu's quarters. The count, who was a very ingenious fellow, had rigged up a miniature ballistic machine with which he could throw stones into my tent. He would watch us as we were having our meal, adjust his machine to suit the length of our table, and then let fly at us, breaking our pots and glasses.

You're going to want to port-hop as much as possible, even if it costs you a few extra turns. The Rebels have the strongest ships at the beginning of the game, so avoid them as much as possible! blackleaf is right about them fading into the woodwork towards the middle of the game. If I had to make a rough guesstimate, I'd say that it becomes relatively safe (only a few rebel fleet encounters) around 1250.

I think they're a great source of military points if you have the cash to spare

For some reason I don't like to see "damn somalians" even if it is just a joke.
