Sort of. The only way you can win is if you capture enough regions. You can gain regions through diplomacy however, by demanding them off rival nations. So I guess you can win by using diplomacy but not just diplomacy.![]()
check this org thread for a similar approach - house rules were that he could only attack rebels (so diplomacy etc played the major big part)
"Patriotism is the belief that your country is better than any other because you were born there"
Yes it is possible I did this once but the campaign is a bit boring playing with only diplomacy, but for me it was a great way to test out the AI who his not as Flawed as people thinks.
I have one my objectives campaign by making alot of money never being in a war, almost ... and only buying settlements form other factions
Let me say it different: Would it be possible to win a gama through smart use of diplomacy? For example: Instead of allying with everybody deny a few allies so they will stand alone agianst your almighty alliance. Then provroke a war and you can easy destroy even the mightiest of empires![]()
Maybe not in vanilla, probably more with mods who made the AI make alliances Blocs to fighting with allies more easely done and done more often. I'am a player that likes playing in the democrated way. I would suggest you to have a llok at my Great INformative Thread. The link is in my Signature, you will find good information there that touches Diplomacy and other things that maybe you wouldn't think of that ia related to it like Reputation for example.
Have a look and let me know what you think
Thanks rebel
But because i'm a total noob i don't know wich mod i must use
Any suggestions?
Here look at this thread I have linked a couple of nice Mods LINK
It can be done, but if you are trying to simulate the time and place -- regions were not changing possession like used cars on a sales lot. Money and territories would change hands to end a conflct, but not without the underlying conflict. Also, the victor in the conflict was ceding (returning) recently conquored regions back to the losing faction for reparations.

With diplomacy i mean direct the game through diplomacy.
For instance the divide and conquer strategy or let other nations do what you want them to do.

@sancrates
btw -- welcome to the forum.
I think my post did address this.
How do you propose to use diplomacy to grow your empire? Remember that the last region of a faction must be conquored. How do you propose to use vassalage without a military conflict?
I have many more questions, but the central idea of the diplomatic process as intended to be used within the game is a counter to conflict and not a substitute for conflict. In other words it is another variation of rock, paper, and scissors.

A strategy hinging on Diplomacy is possible, I've had many instances of getting settlements in ceasefire agreements, but it depends on the AI's pre-determined strategy. Milan won't have much luck, since alot of factions are coded to attack them, same with Byzantium; Russia, on the other hand, would have a much freer hand in this.
