Possessed by game/s

Morning all,

I am not sure where to put this.

Do you ever felt that you have been obsessed with computer game/s? Almost seems like the game/s has possessed you with some kind of magic?

It almost seems like it to me because since I started playing Rome:TotalWar again, it almost seems like it has possessed me. I am almost all the time thinking of how to manage my empire. It's so much in my head that I relate real world things with it and create strategies in the real world to tackle some of my problems.

It's not about wining or completing the game, but about managing the virtual world.

Anyhow, do you or did you ever feel that way in your life?

Secondly yes i do get this a bit i play it before i go to bed and i can sleep I'm to busy thinking of ways of beating fractions and whats my next step gonna be and such quite annoying when you got to get up for work. :/

Once you realise that when you die, nobody cares about how good you were at playing RTW in your life, the obsession will soon end and be supressed by the urge to do something with your life.

anyways, we're not here to take each other mistakes.

I did get over with the fact of Rome and other TW titles however there are other games which can be really obsessive. I think I should have given bit more examples to make the topic generally wider perhaps?

Anyhow, even if you stop playing the game the strategies you place in the game does appear in real life situations and sometimes help you overcome your own problems

Hmmm, well for me, I sometimes do get obsessed, but I don't think I've ever had the "possessed" feeling. I don't think about strategies and stuff a lot during my real life day, but I always look forward to playing a game of RTW.

I'm not too obsessed with RTW...I've got my own things to think about when I am off the computer. Don't get me wrong, I do like RTW...but it's been a while since I have actually settled into a nice long campaign. I keep starting new ones. Recently got into multiplayer too, that's more to my style, fast paced and you don't go to bed/work planning your next move.

I too get obsessed with it, especially when at a really fun point in a campaign, but I play in pretty long sessions at a time (I try to get 2 straight hours in per "session"). This way, I get kind of bored of it by the time I get off so I'm not thinking about it while I'm off.

I like campaigns, but I dislike that I keep winning. So I tend to lean towards new campaigns, multiplayer and aar's. But as to the whole game, heck yes, I'm an addict. And not a good one.

Occasionally I'll think about the game outside of playing it... Sometimes just because it makes me wonder what it would be like in classical times, and also there are aspects o my current campaign that I want to mull over. I used to keep a notebook of different army compositions and strategies, campaign and battle, but i got over that for hte most part.

Too true; and it also helps that there are so few good games in the world that the addiction is not too harmful. Of course, those who have lower tastes must be pitied...

I sometimes will reply to my friends like that, but I wouldn't risk it with a girlfriend, if I ever had one, lol.

RTW just somehow my thing.
