    Default Am I ready?

This is a question that has been really bugin me and it's one I really want to know.
    Am I ready for Empire?

I have an 2.4 Ghz Processor, an 8600GT 256MB graphic card and 3 GBs of RAM, but am I ready?

    For Medium settings perhaps.
Freddie and I keep telling everyone this: WE DON'T KNOW. ETW is not out yet, we can't benchmark a game we do not have.

Roman clone does have a point, it's hard to tell unless someone actually has the game and can see what hardware you need for what settings.

    I say low-medium, 8600GT will get raped.

    Is this for real then?

OK, this is not good, it said it was the minimum specs. NOT GOOD

If those are the minimum specs (which still don't tell us all that much), you will be playing on low methinks.

I guess I'll try and make you feel better.... the 8600GT is one of the better 256MB cards? Can't see you playing above medium.

Probably Low graphics with small-normal unit size.

Thats all right, not to be emo or anything, but I'm used to not really having the right rig when I need it or want it.

For around 700-800$ You could build a Rig that could max it out.

Wait, is that just for the parts or for everything? That can't be for it all.

What do you guys think of the Radeon HD 4670 1GB? I have this card and I can max out M2TW including AF and AA and the settings in CCC, but excluding shadows, at a resolution of 1680x1050. Here is a pic of a benchmark with this card.

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
That was a 6000 man battle with settings (except the res) I said above. Now I have to admit that at the initial clash the FPS was 4, but it improved as men started to die. At the end of the battle there was 3000 men left over, so I was getting 30 FPS with at least 3000 men. One of things that shocks me is the GPU load when the game is running at 30 FPS.

So what do you guys think? Would a 4670 be capable of running ETW on high?

Hannibal what is your processor? A quad core, dual core, or a single core? If it's anything other then a single core you might be able to play ETW decently by just upgrading your video card.

    Obviously its faulty

I have the HD4850 512 and I can max it no problem.

Any 4000 Series card should be able to play ETW @ Med(4830 GPU) and High (4860, 4850, 4870, 4870X2)

BTW Atraps, MTW only uses 1 of your CPU cores.

Maybe, but then when I'm playing Crysis it's around 100% all the time.

    The minimum specs are,

    2.4Ghz single core processor
    256MB Gfx card (DX9 compatible)
1GB RAM (For XP, 2GB if using Vista)
You should be able to play it but only on low settings and small unit sizes and don't expect the game to fly either.

In all honesty though know one knows how well the game will play until the final game is released and benchmarking can be carried out.

I think the bar has been set and enough games have been released that we could make a well educated estimate of if the game will work.

Theres lots of things to take into account, this games what? 3-4 years after MTW? And be looking at the screenshots I can tell it'll require alot of texture processing, which anything below the 8800, 9000, and 4000 series videocardswill have trouble doing.

The only thing that can throw off our estimate is if the game is programmed good or not. In the past the TotalWar games have been pretty good for this..

Another thing is balancing the CPU, If someone tells us what FPS they get in MTW, we can kinda guestimate how much a Quadcore or Dualcore will scale up with ETW, seeing as ETW supports multi-threading, and older TW games don't. So I'd say some people might not even get a HUGE performance decrease if they have a good videocard and a Quadcore...or i7

So if I am to take everything he has Spec wise and say that CA will do their job and code the game good, I'd say low settings.

What if you slap in a 4830 instead. They are only marginally slower than a 4850.

Instead of starting a new thread, I thought I would pose my question here.
I need to know whether I'll be able to play ETW without serious lag? Graphics are not a priority, but I would like to use large unit settings.

    Here's my specs.....
Intel Core 2 CPU 6600@2.40GHz, 3GB Ram. Windows XP
VisionTek Radeon HD 2400 PRO Graphics Card

    Thanks!

    Finn

Hmm you should be good, Definately no Lag on low, your CPU is good.

Medium should be...alright possible 10-25 FPS, Can't see you doing High.
