    Default DLV England Strategys!

    Hey people

ive always been a byzantine man for DLV(and my last campaign was venice, went very well)

but ive always failed to be successful as England and would like to know the order that you conquer england and the rest of the islands and what army composites you use and your strategies against the strong rebel armies near southampton/london.

    Hey Marku,

It's been a while since I've played as england but I seem to remember that taking York first makes life a hell of a lot easier. From there I think southhampton should be next. As with all factions, move all your generals to a city for the end of the first turn so they become governers. Don't spend any money advancing Cean or over garrison it as you may be forced to relinquish it at some point. As far as the rebel armies go make some watchtowers so you can predict the movements of their armies a little easier. Build an army of spear militia, hobilars and peasant archers. Encourage enemy missile units to fall under your hobilars, occupy his front line with your militia spears and hit his rear with your cav while your archers pelt his general. The mercs in england are usually excellent so take advantage of this.

    Hope that helps

Yes take York first. Use your ships to sail around the fort above Nottingham and attack York.

One think though I normally make one general and the rest governors (normally the faction leader and heir) - because I find taking on those strong rebel stacks with a governor with no command ordering militia/mercs about always turns into a massacre for my side

Taking York is one of the triggers for Scotland declaring war. I usually don't take it until I've got Reims and South Hampton.

But I hate fighting Scotland early, Maybe that's just me.

They did not seem to care when I took it. They did however offer me trade rights.

I used to play them a lot. But I suppose it has been a while. Several versions back since my last play. I've got a couple AAR English campaigns up in the AAR section.

Maybe, I should give it another whirl. I'm really surprised Scotland didn't get aggressive with you when you took York. This is a VH/VH game I assume.
I've always found Scotland 10 x more aggressive than France but maybe that was in earlier versions.

I love attacking scotland early, they usually offer such great resistance to my militia and peasant archers but it's tough to avoid excommunication:hmmm:sounds like a good reason not to do it...
