Attack enemy on my territory?

Hello I'm new here and I hope this is the right place to post this thread!!
So I'm playing with English faction at VH/VH level. Things are getting good enough and I've a good reputation with the Pope. It happens anyway that two enemy Portugal armies (... Portugal has a good reputation with the Pope too) used to spend their time nearby London affecting negatively economy. They don't attack my armies and don't siege London but they simply stay there since 10 turns !!! Now I would like to know if it's possible to attack them without having any reputation decrease with Pope.

Psh. Just attack them and if your reputation gives lil bit down with pope give him 1000 coins and everything will be the same. And i specially dont think that ur rep goes down because of that.

You did not rhe turn of the game. I am assuming this must be in the middke of the game or later. Who are you at war with and the same for Portugal? Also, are they bankrupt? You might try placing a stack adjacent, but I doubt this to be effective. It seems once the AI factions have come and stayed a few turns, thet are not going to leave even if the initial reson for coming is resolved.

My first choice is the bribe the stack. Best chance if captain led. Offer to bribe several times on one diplomatic round with a 100fl gift each rime the answer is no. Repeat the following turn. This sometimes has worked for me on the first turns with England when the Scots bring down a small captain led force.

Best recomendation is to first break any trade agreements, etc. on turn prior. Attack with the intent of complete defeat of the Portugal stack, since retreat will not remove the bugger from your lands. No need to dump large amoounts of florins on the Pope. Just insure the petty 100fl per turn is continued. After defeating the force (if not eliminated, be certain to take out the generals present), offer to bribe the remainder of the now captain led force.pdated on circumstances until you end turn. Again, this needs to be on the turn after combat -- I do not think the AI is completely u Also approach Portugal for a ceasefire and a modest sum, trade, maps, etc. What does not work when at peace will sometimes work after war has begun.

If they make you loose money and causes devastation means that you are at war with Portugual, just attack them the reason they put armies on your lands , they want to hurt your economy.

Attack them until they leave your land or send them a diplomat to make a cease fire that way they won't hurt your economy anymore. The fact that the Pope as a good relations with the two of you means nothing, first look at the Pope Reputation where you can see crosses meaning how the pope love you are not , If you are high only missing 1 or 2 crosses attack them if diplomacy didn't work or if you don't want to agree on a cease fire with them.....

Edit: I would also like to add that this issue was a big problem for gamers in general , the lack of having the option to tell to another faction to get their armies off our lands wasn't in M2TW.

From what I've heard from EmpiresTW the option will be in the diplomacy screen

After knocking heads with the Portuguese -- nothing may change. Take a stack with artillery to Lisbon and take the capital. If this does nto take out the faction, offer the capital back for making them your vassals. This might satisfy the AI and they will leave.

I still favor decapitating the generals from the stack and bribing the captain led stack though.

Kill them; things with the Pope are easily patched up, and you can make peace with the Portugeese after. Forgive me for over-simplifying, but I say you just cut the Gordion Knot.

God Prince, whats with you and bribing. whos to say they won't come
back,...that you'll wind up spending 5k on A stupid army of peasents
and quickly disband them, or that their leader has authority and won't take it.....

In my Venice campaign, I've had a Sicilian stack parked outside of Durazzo for maybe 20 turns. They really do nothing, I personally think it's a dumb trick to try and create wars without pissing the Pope off.

Something I learned from experience in M2TW: If a faction does what Portugal's doing to you, I mean setting up camp near your city, it means they're waiting for you to clear your forces, or at-least some of them, out of there because they are too weak to face off against all of those, once you do that, or once you go to war with them, they will attack, my best advice is: Show a big fat round finger to the pope and attack them. If the pope doesn't like it, give him some money, believe me, he'll like it. In a general note, relations with the pope are very easily patched up, so you shouldn't be afraid of him as I was, unless he excommunicates you (You must do A LOT of bad things for that ), do whatever you please. Worst case scenario, the pope will hate you and you'll conquer Rome.

On a general note, I'd like to say: Don't be afraid to do stuff, and don't ask people too many stuff, try it on your own, you learn better from mistakes, if they happen, take a chance! Heck, I attacked Rome once, and learned... NOT to do that. (The entire catholic world attacked me in like 10 turns!!) But still, that was only because I wasn't strong enough to defend myself and was near everyone. Instead of being those guys who ask the questions in the threads, I suggest you aspire to become those who answer them

Just attack them to get them off your lands, bleed them until they won't come back. Donate some cash to the Pope and then everyone will be happy. You could even go a step further and take the enemy's capital, that should divert their attention from standing in your lands.. you might even be able to force them to become a vassal this way.

Make them pay for it and then make them your vassal so they keep paying. Maximum extortion.
