Ask this question in the tech help forum and tell them exactly what you did to your computer and the problem you are getting. They may be able to help! One question, have you tried putting your computer back to the way it was and trying to install/play then?

A good thing you could do to help them a bit better is to give them the Link.

    ok thank you

ok so heres what happened, I had a dell, I bought some new parts, MOBO, case, processor, ram, psu. I moved my hard drives, optical drive, and video card into the new case and hooked everything up. now MTW2 worked before the move. now the catch is, MTW2 is telling me to insert the correct DVD and try again, so figuring it was just confused as to where it was in the new system, even though it was the same hard drive I reinstalled it, still nothing "cannot locate DVD please insert correct DVD". now the twist to this whole thing is, the expansions work, I am able to play the kingdoms expansions....:hmmm: help please!!!

It sounds to me like you screwed with your drivers. That or you've moved your connectors such that not all programs will interface with the drive anymore.

Possibly a registry error (very long shot) but I think your drive letter for the optical drive has changed.

umm, I dont know about the registry and im pretty sure the drive letter didnt change but I could try a different drive letter and see if that works

ok so maybe updating my drivers for my Rom will be a possible fix? because its the only IDE drive I have. also the kingdoms expansions will run, I can play crusades, americas etc.

well if only some campaings work on the CD while others do, than its deffinitley not a problem with your computers configuration, maybe its your copy? If not, than I would just reccomend downloading the game from steam or from another source and have it on your hardrive where these problems wont happen.

    all the luck!

I have two dvd readers in my rig and the game recognizes either one. I can switch them anytime. When you rebuilt your computer you may have accidently broken something else. Your master/slave configueration on your dvd reader could be wrong especially if it's one of the old ones that have to be set manually by the pins on the back of the drive.

ok, I dont think I have a jumper on that drive, I think it was set for board or cable select, so maybe I just need to add a jumper to make sure its the master drive?

When I had multiple IDE drives, cable select didn't work for me. I had to set the master and slave settings myself.
