Vanilla savegame compatible?

Topic title says all.
I'd like to install SS6.1 and searched the forum, but I didn't find much answers about the vanilla savegame compability.
SS installs in a subfolder, but some vanilla files are changed as said in some posts.
Can you guys help me? Thanks

If you mean can you install SS and still play vanilla, yes you can. But if you mean can you use your vanilla saves in SS, then no you cant.

I just want my vanilla saved games to be still playable in vanilla. Other wise I won't install SS (yet).

The files SS changes outside of its little submod folder are only icon pictures so the new factions show up properly on the map. That's all. It won't affect vanilla any other way.
