    Default DLV 6.0: First Impressions!

Please post your 6.0 first impressions and screenshots. Very curious to see some Eastern European Rushti units in actions. So if you are playing an Eastern Faction....Hit us up with some screen shots.

Just got it installed... If your UI is all white boxes, check the bug thread for the fix, it works great

I love the the new Settlement Strat Models....Really, Really Sweet!

    SWEET!!!!!!!

6.0 is quite a break through... It really is starting to take on a very polished look

Weird thing.... I was able to download Part1 in a couple of hours. But the second part which is actually smaller took me nine hours! Haven't had much of a chance to play yet but I'll hit back with more detailed impressions!

    Cheers

Is there some issue with bump/normal/whatever maps? Because some units look shiny, too shiny, on things that shouldn't be shiny. Clothing, hair, skin have a metallic reflection like they're made of tin foil or something. Anyone else notice this?

Please post a screenie....Sometimes I think they look better if you turn "Reflections" off...Are you playing an Eastern European Kingdom? If they are some of the new units to 6.0, please post so we can all take a look!

    Cheers

OK, it seems to only be one some units, which is what leads me to believe this is a graphical bug that can be fixed easy. For example, these billmen are fine, they're not 'shiny' and look normal.

Now here are some units that I think look unnaturally shiny. It's much more noticeable when the unit is in motion, and I circled some areas to help show what i'm talking about.

I inserted new fonts (Blueoran idea), some metallic effects come from the new normal maps (Blueoran)...just ignore it

    Likes:

    New fonts
    New settlement graphics
New skins (always love new skins)
More scripting choices at beginning of campaign (field costs, etc)

    Dislikes:

    All Caps for metropolis settlements
    Total War option
    *Cav spread
    *Aztecs and Americas

*I know the last 2 are not new to 6.0, but I hope to someday see these things gone from DLV or somehow optional.

    Overall, I give DLV 6.0 a 9.5 out of 10.

My dream, and I'm being serious, would be to see both the Broken Crescent mod and the Stainless Steel mod get DLV'ed. To me, DLV is not about being a graphical masterpiece, although most of the 2D art is awesome. When I think of Deus Lo Vult, I think of the unique gameplay experience involved. When I attempt to play other mods, the only thing I really enjoy is their eye candy. That being said, the two mods I just mentioned have very nice graphical enhancements. So imagine if you can the Broken Crescent map, unit cards, skins, etc. with DLV scripting, DLV 2D art for the events, factions symbols etc. It would not be an attempt to replace DLV 6.0, but something more along the lines of Europa...another variant of DLV brought about by merging the best things of two great mods.

Stainless Steel would be slightly different as their faction symbols are nice too. But SS skins, unit rosters, etc with DLV scripting and roleplay elements would be incredible.

Disclaimer: So that no one takes offense, my point to all of this is that every mod, in my humble opinion, would be that much better with DLV enhancements. And DLV would be even better with it's own new, non-vanilla unit cards and skins.

The Cav Spread is REALLY easy to change if you want to...The links are right there in the first page of my strategy guide if that will make you happy!

Was about to post that! First time I looked at them I thought, this is not "my" DLV .

In any case, I will start a campaign soon enough to check it out (work and family are taking most of my time these days).

Jeez, why do people always want the Americas out of ME2 mods? At the least it keeps the late campaign from getting boring.

Because the faction/settlement slots it uses in the limited game engine could be used much better.
I think America is historical too late to be implemented in a game called Medieval.

That is why Harry made "Europa"... So there is a good version of DLV without America. We don't need two do we?

i love the feel of the game.

playing with kiev, the lithuanian pagans sent a princess not to get trade agreement, but to blackmail me: she said "if kiev doesnt pay 300 fl, then we will attack you..."

damn.. i disliked it so much i sieged and took minsk (currently theirs offcourse, quick grab there!)

    it was around year 1190

now its year 1210 and they keep attaking me with full stacks.
i defeated already about 5 sieges at minsk and the city right nw of kiev..
and 3 full stacks of polland are roaming my lands.

    and i choosed CIV!!!!

bad thing? i paid 35000 fl to novgorod for them to attack lit. 5 years later they are still neutral (paid so much because they had sent me already the same business idea than lit and i have refused, they had not attacked me anyway, but i dont believe they love me right now.)
i paid 20000 to polland to do the same. 3 years neutral and still dont show any sign of aggression towards lith.

i found a lot of the units had an unnatural sheen also, mainly the lower tier peasant type, almost like they donned saran rap before going to war.

yap now that you mention it, normal armoured spears lilke mercs have too much shine and they look white not metalic

also lit units once snow dirty look like ghosts, they lose some relief

Getting started as venice is rough, I dont like the new trade rights either not easy with rebels at your door and trying to make payments to get traderights. Armies without Generals rebel way to fast also. Some of the units are a bit shiny I wonder if you turn off reflections that would make them better.

i love the new look, especially the larger settlements and castles, i gives it a very unique look, and definetly makes the map look better. I like the prices on everything, i like the fact you can pick ai garrisons, point system etc. That is actually the feature that made me come back, being able to turn off the point system.

My only diskes is the americas and i still get CTDs in the main campaign. EDIT: also i know this has been in DLV for awhile, but i dont like the decision of takeing Raiders away from ireland. Without that unit, all ireland has is spear throwing infantry (in the beginning), which are extremely weak.

lol its like Europa took all the dislikes from regular DLV but left out all my likes. The CTDs are a real downer, and is the last thing that keeps me from really getting back into regular DLV.

I feel very proud that so many people liked the new settlements
Guys, take a look at my signature to get more 2D enhachements!
The credits for the settlements should go - first of all - to Agart
