    Default Concept of AP

Example I have a Dismounted Ghulam and he has an attack of around 6. Because he wields a mace, he gets AP damage. Does that mean that he gets 50% more damage equal to 9 damage?

    No. It halves enemy armour.

As delra said, but you're on a good track too..as when fighting a unit with armor value 8, AP will reduce it to 4, but when fighting a light armored unit of armor value 2, AP will reduce it by only 1..so not quite as effective, against lightly armored units!

In this game unit's don't do damage. An attack is either a hit or a miss. Most units have 1 HP.(with few exceptions being, Generals, Captains, General's Bodyguard ect, who have 2 or more HP.)

When a unit attacks, it's attack (melee or ranged) is put against the enemy's defence. Much like DnD's attack rolls. If the resulting roll has the attack value defeating the unit's overall defence, the unit is hit, and in most cases, killed. Otherwise, if the defence wins the roll the unit that got attacked will shrug off the attack, simulating their armour being hit, or their shield deflecting the blow etc...

Charge bonus attack values are simply applied on top of the unit's melee attack when the unit attacks using the charge animation.
As for the Paladin, the battle with the Dragon isn't the danger, it's the battle in the heart that he must be wary of.

90% of late units armor doubles there attack damage though such as 6/21 even 3 times.

The Roll that adds to attack value must go upto at least 15. But then if thats the case crappy units should be able to kill elite units but thats never the case.

Does each unit get a roll limit based on there cost and stats or something?

For instance a peasant with a high roll , using what u just said would kill a unit twice as strong so i dont really understand how that works how good a unit is shouldnt even matter as much as it does its just the luck of the rolls. But in game it dosent look like thats happening

A crappy unit can kill an elite unit. It's just very unlikely. If a unit has a much larger defence value then the attack of who is attacking them, then it's most likely the attacks will be deflected, though not always. There's always that chance that peasant crossbow bolt could sail right through your king's eye socket. :-p Though usually, something like peasant archers shooting at General's Bodyguard will be wasting their arrows. Again it's like DnD.

The attack is put against the defence like this (((Attack + Charge bonus if charging+ Cavalry bonus if applicable + Random Value vs Defence (Armour (/ 2 If attacker has against armour bonus) + Defence Skill if Melee + Shield if not being attacked from rear or right side)))
