So, I just started playing BC and I'm having an issue with the 'request papal assistance building'. How does it work? How do you know your request was accepted or denied. Can someone explain in great detail this building?

No, I don't know the exact workings of it but it works as a one-time request to the pope for assistance, NOT as an 'insurance policy' that works in the same city after you lose it. The pope is much more likely to call a new crusade if you lose some settlements first - even more likely with the loss of important settlements like Acre and Jerusalem - and you 'build' the Request Papal Assistance in another settlement you still own. That much I know; I've never tried it. Most players of KoJ don't get the chance to lose these settlements in order to make a successful request for assistance, they usually defend KoJ well (on the other hand, players of the Ayyubids sometimes experience a crusade wave once they capture settlements of KoJ).

I disabled it so they come no matter what. It works pretty well the ayyubids still beat them in the end.
