Anyway to remove them, or is it hardcoded?
Anyway to remove them, or is it hardcoded?
In my current campaign I have three Scottish princesses who go through their little unskippable animation every single damn turn at one of my castles. I am currently training up assassins to kill them but it's really annoying. WHat are they doing anyway?
Bribing.
I could be wrong about this but, wasn't there a bug with diplomats/princesses appearing to be offering some form of diplomatic proposal when they were idling next to a settlement while they were doing nothing?
Any community that gets its laughs by pretending to be idiots will eventually be flooded by actual idiots who mistakenly believe that they are in good company.
if you mean prevent them from being recruited, you could edit their costs to be 1,000,000 florins.
i think you would have to edit cost for each factions diplomat so depending on mod there could be over 20 to change.
wordpad search-replace would work if you could get the exact line, im not sure which edu file controls costs, but youll find it
i know this is the wrong thread but i just started playing SS and i was wondering when, if it does at all, gunpowder is invented
wrong thread indeed, it wasnt invented by groveling diplomats.
who cares just answer the question
Good way to win friends and influence people.
Back on topic...
Over the years I've played a couple of mods that eliminate diplomats. There are several drawbacks. No trade rights, no alliances, no way to end wars other than completely destroying the enemy (okay, that's not necessarily a bad thing). You can still use Princesses to perform these tasks when available, of course.
Removal is pretty straightforward, if you care to try a game without them.
Edit descr_strat.txt and remove all starting diplomats.
Edit export_descr_buildings.txt and remove the ability to recruit them.
Start new campaign.
If the hovering diplomats really start to bug me, I just surround and kill them.

It's not a bug they are attempting to Bribe and failing. The diplomacy window dosent show up because no sane person is going to say yes for obvious reasons.I could be wrong about this but, wasn't there a bug with diplomats/princesses appearing to be offering some form of diplomatic proposal when they were idling next to a settlement while they were doing nothing?
The only way around it is assasins but that gives a reputation hit and dread to your generals. Good reputation and chivalry are alot better than the former so its better to just let them get on with it untill there's a fix
Diplomacy can be very helpful, esspecially if you have a lot of money. And removing diplomats from the game might not be the best thing to do.
Diplomats and princesses, standing at your cities doing nothing, can be really annoying, I know. But there has to be some way to fix that bug. I am not a modder, but I'm sure there is someone who can do this.
You can just press "space bar" and it will go a lot faster.

If there is one particularly annoying diplomat who keeps bothering me with nothing I usually try to assassinate him.
Assassination?
with 9 units of .....peasants lol
no seriously now
if you sorroound him and then put a ninth unit on him he'll die
but it will count as natural death since well......
your 1600 peasants are ....blind or really stupid(also works with other units)
bribery mod compatible with any other mod includes tutorial

they arent blind or stupid, they are simply brilliant compared to your assasins since they can make it seem like a natural death.![]()
LOL, 1600peasants to kill a diplmat.
As for the Paladin, the battle with the Dragon isn't the danger, it's the battle in the heart that he must be wary of.
