The Pope, is he still in the game?

I cant find him. Playing as Byzantines, sent like 20 spies to Florence/Rome and surrounding area, cant find the pope. Does he still roam around in SS?

I'm pretty sure he does(he is currently sieging one of my cities personally)

Yes, he's around somewhere, probably in ambush position. The only way to get rid of the Papacy, IIRC is by eliminating all Catholic priests and buildings capable of making catholic priests....and even then I think there's an AI spawn for him. Sounds similar to my campaign, but Papa Julius is currently an ally - just him, I destroyed the Papal States when they foolishly attacked me - wandering Italy at random.

hah. Yeah. Teutons been in ambush position for 100+ turns since Lithuania retook the city the Teutons captured.

I'm Byzantines, completely taken over European mainland. Only Scandanavia and British Isles left to go before Catholics are all dead. I havent attacked Papal States either, but they're at my mercy.
