A place of danger, a place of strife, a place where every man scripts to save his life! Come with us to The Frontier. If you dare. . .
The Frontier is an up-and-coming mod for MTW2:Kingdoms, focusing on the New World of 1655-1774 and covering the epic struggle for survival from the tropical rainforests of Guiana to the icy Hudson Bay. First conceptualized by Tommyknocker, the mapper for Stainless Steel, the team is striving to give Medieval 2 modding a fresh new scene. In many ways, the choice of name has proved ironic, for the New World is not the only frontier the team has found, as they look to push the engine to new limits and bring forth unique and never-before-seen facets of gameplay.
The last preview of our work can be found here, on the Frontier forums.
Some twenty-eight to thirty factions are planned, covering Amerindian tribes from the Maya to the Montagnais, and including England, Spain, New France, and the Netherlands as European colonists.
At the present time, we are in need of experienced scripters and coders to help with the many difficulties of representing the New World as it historically was. Among the things in need of implementation: An interrelated economic/recruitment model, focusing on trade and diplomacy on the frontier. A complex area of recruitment system designed to represent the mercenary and allied natives that proved so critical to the European conflicts in the western hemisphere. And dozens of unique and historical events, representing everything from the Pueblo Revolt to King Phillip's War and the Navigation Acts, not to mention the outbreak of the Seven Years' War and the subsequent character-based reforms of Howe. These are only a few examples of the work that needs to be done. Are you up to the challenge?
If your answer is “yes”, then fire off a PM to me in my role as recruiting officer, or just post here in the thread and I'll be sure to contact you.
