Default Can I install Medieval II - Total War (Gold Edition) to D:

Sorry if this was posted elsewhere but having a problem installing Medieval II - Total War (Gold Edition) ?

My hard drive is partitioned into two halves (C: and D. The Install Program points to C: by default (which doesn't have 12GB free) and there doesn't seem to a way of pointing the software to D:

I am working on deleting stuff off C: but its a tall order to create 12GB.

Is there any way I can install to D: which has plenty of space?

    Thanks in advance.

Appreciate the replies. Unfortunately was unable to install to the D: drive but was able to overcome the problem by creating the space on C:

Although the installer program allows you to install to the D:, this is only after it has checked there is sufficient space on C: ! I found this out having moving a load of files from C: to D:, so I didn't have any space left of D: when it finally gave me the option to do so!!!!

Not sure why you can't install it to D:/... should be pretty simple to be honest. Does what Irishron said work?

Total newbie - some questions on install issues - patch updates.

Purchased the MII TW Gold Edition last week and I have been totally addicted to it since. Fantastic game!!!

I had problems installing the Gold Edition, first disc easily installed and when asked for second disc to be put into drive D:/, the first disc would not eject out. Tried numerous times - few hours at this. Disc would not eject. Blue screen & Have to restart computer each time. Eventually after numerous tries, I decided to put the second disc in my second drive E:/ and ran. The game installed OK and I have actually just finished the first Short Campaign as England after few days. But every time I eject the game disc the screen turns blue - error screen - only when I eject the disc. Leave the disc in and no problems.

After Victory taking Scotland & France, I opted to continue and have just started to move south into Spain & Portugal, now the Danes are on the march and look very strong (full flags evrywhere) and as usual the Pope has asked for no transgressions.

Q 1. Can I unistall and re-install without losing my campaign victory?
Q 2. Does the Gold Edition require any update patches?
Q 3. Has anybody else having same problems with trying to install second disc?

I have installed many other games with 2 discs and not had same problems.

    computer details.
    XP Home Edition
    3 GHz CPU Pentium 4
    1022MB RAM
    300 GB Mem
    NVIDIA 6800 256 mb
    Direct X9.0c with all updates

    All help appreciated! :hmmm:

    1. Just put your saved games someplace else so you can put them back after you reinstall.
    2. Gold contains all the patches but the last Kingdoms Update.
    3. Does your drive do it on other dvds? Can your reader handle multilayer dvds? Many old ones can't and can be the reason for it hanging.

    Thanks irishron,

    1. Is this the Autosave.sav file in My Computer/C:/Progam Files/Sega/MedII/Saves/Autosave.sav ???

    2. I shall update the suggested file.

    3. Have not had any issues with any other games. Multilayer not sure about. Its a Dell 9100 with following drives. Its only about 2 years old.

    _NEC DVD+-RW ND-3530A [CD-ROM drive] and SONY DVD-ROM DDU1615 [CD-ROM drive]

AlzerKhan, I'm going to answer them in this order:

    1. That is the one to save someplace until you get the game reinstalled, if necessary. In this case, See if you can start a new campaign without any problems. If the dvd problem still exists, yes, try a fresh install.

    3. Your dvd-readers are as new and good as mine so as long as your other dvds load okay they aren't the problem.

Now I have a few more questions:

    Do you have XP SP3?
Do you have .Net 3.5 SP1?
May not believe it but they do make a difference.

Have you installed any dvd burning software?

    Cheers irishron,

I first saved game autosave and then uninstalled and re-installed but to no good - same issue with eject DVD and blue error screen > shut down and restart.

I then updated .Net 3.5 SP1 from what I had (1.1) and already had the XP updated and bingo all perfect - you were spot on, they really made a difference. Cheers and many thanks.

I then even decided to up my RAM from 1 gb to 3 gb by adding two X 1gb cards. Game is now just fantastic.
