    Default Teutonic/Templar Question

I spent an hr reading posts and remain uncertain on these two things (early campaign 6.1):

Can u destroy the Teutonic Order or is it that when you kill all their characters i.e. generals, take their cities, and wipe out their units they are essentially dead, but the game is incaple of declaring it?

If I change the Templar by changing family tree to 'No' in descr_sm- factions and removing relative line from desc_strat will they basically function as having a family tree, but it is hidden from sight and all growth is through adoption? Will they then be incaple of being destroyed from game as a function but remain basically Null as I referred to in paragraph above?

The reason why the Teutonic Order can't be destroyed properly is because it is set to be a horde faction, not because it doesn't have a family tree. So if you change the Templars to not have a family tree, they should still be destroyable.

Why, might I ask, would you want a faction to be undestroyable?

cause we all remember the days in MTW when we thought that one faction was gone for good only to see 3 full stacks show up where there capital was.....

It's not an SS thing. It's a bug in all of M2TW. Any faction set to horde (i.e. mongols, timurids) cannot be totally destroyed.

I get that part. What I'm trying to understand is, it seems the original poster is trying to figure out how to make the Templar's undestroyable, like the Teutonic Order. Just wondering why he'd want to do that.

I think it's more a case of wanting to remove the Templars' family tree.

It would be interesting if your faction would survive when all family members and generals are killed, and maybe most land is taken as well and a captain fights a desperate struggle to keep his faction alive. He could become a family member because of his deeds in the field of battle and could then become the new leader, giving his people new hope and inspiration.

Maybe it could be an idea that a faction would only be destroyed when all land is taken, all family members dead and also all diplomats and princesses?

With just a diplomat and some cash, or a small army you could have a chance of coming back after all, any faction could do that.
