    Default Screen res

    Hi all

I have got a weird problem I have been playing RTWER just fine for a while now my res was set to 1680 by 1050 with no hassle at all, the game has been running just dandy without any probs.

Today i started up the game to carry on playing a current save and for some reason the battle map and campaign map is set to 1280 by 960 that now being the highest res i can set to, Any reason why this has changed ? i have not changed anything, seems to have happen all by itself:hmmm:and cant figure out how to get it back to 1680 by 1050.

    Any ideas chaps ?

You know, I've heard of this happening to someone else, too, but I forget where. It's an odd problem.

Should he try deleting his preferences.txt? That might force it to reset. Alternatively, should he edit that file manually?

Try going into Options, Video Settings and then useing the Auto-Detect function. That should detect all the available rmonitor resolutions.

i know for my installation i cannot change it in-game, it just won't change it. i have to go through the preferences.txt to change it and have any effect.

I've had the same problem. I even re-installed the game and nothing changed.

    Hi

Thx for the tips, i went into preferences and changed my res settings from this
    STRATEGY_RESOLUTION:1280x960
    STRATEGY_MAX_RESOLUTION:1280x960
    STRATEGY_32_BIT:TRUE
    BATTLE_RESOLUTION:1280x960
    BATTLE_MAX_RESOLUTION:1280x960
    BATTLE_32_BIT:TRUE

    to this
    STRATEGY_RESOLUTION:1280x960
    STRATEGY_MAX_RESOLUTION:1680x1050
    STRATEGY_32_BIT:TRUE
    BATTLE_RESOLUTION:1280x960
    BATTLE_MAX_RESOLUTION:1680x1050
    BATTLE_32_BIT:TRUE

    and its worked

I so hopefully the other guys having the same problem can fix it now.
I have no idea why it has changed as i was originally playing in 1680x1050.

Africanus, possibly you changed the wrong preferences file? if you have the mod switch version installed you need to go into that folder, as you will have one preferences file per mod you have installed. it will thus not be under "rome - total war", but under "rome -total war/exrm" ...
