Default So I must wonder: arquebusier... So?

I am not usually a military builder when it comes to campaigns, but in my KoJ-campaign I finally have them: arquebusiers. So I line them up, and make them riddle an opponent with bullets. Endscore: 1 charge by my cavalery does more damage... So it makes me wonder: why use them? Sure, I can easily see the morale effect, but I prefer my enemy routing in front of my infantry's face, or when boxed in. Not 20 yard away when they decide that noise+fiery death+smoke+huge line of infantry, is NOT their preferred method of vacation.

Using RR/RC they do considerable damage
nevertheless the moral effect is why I mainly use the(als the damage but mostly because of
morale) i like my enemy routing early because this makes the morale effect of my cav greater and sometimes my infantry doesn't even need to engage

It seems just as easy to rout an army by encircling fire arrows and giving massed casualties at once... and the units that do that stuff are much more effective at killing... I dislike any hand held fire arm in M2... just isn't worth it.. especially when your faction has good archers or crossbowmen

Well i'm quite happy with the 18 attack I get out of them
and getting musketeers with 25 and long range also doesn't hurt
when I compare this to 7 or 8 I get out of crossbowmen and 1-6 out of archers
well..... I do realize that arquebuse/musket isn't the most accurate but at max distance bows and crosswbows also aren't much more accurate
and at short distance arquebuse/musket is way more effective

Historically aquebusiers were never terribly accurate. Early firearms were just as likely to blow up in the user's face than to hit the enemy . Their effectiveness mainly came from the noise and smoke that they produced, which demoralised the enemy and especially frightened enemy cavalry.

Your flame arrows dont work so well against late plate unless they are elites(and flame arrow spam is rather 'gamey' anyway). The arquebusier cares very little about armor.

They arent great, i prefer handgunners, which are awesome, in a comedy sort of way. But they do make smoke and fire, and thats always a plus.
