Im Morgan and a historyLover,and im dieing to play the IJ MOD

Got 1 clean installed RTW+BI,patched up to 1.6
DLed the 2 IJ files from the topmirrors,,all goes well,and after starting the game via the icon,it CTDs !

unable to find skeleton 'fs_spearman_big""


I have now Un- and Reinstalled my RTW and BI copies,plus the mod for 3 times now,and it still gives the same Error


1thing though,when installing the 2.0 version(1st DL) it says in the installbox something about having to have installed ".7 ?versions of IBDF???

Dont have that,never had that mod
just an empty harddrive with only RTW and BI on it,and trying to properly run the IJ mod.

Any thoughts ??

***UPDATE****,well,i reinstalled everything again,and after reading on the forums somewhere about a WindowscMDBox,which is running after installing 2.0 version,and the Importance of letting This FINISH,i did just that
And Now it works,only when hitting escapebutton to skip Movieintro,then itll ctd again,when not,it runs fine(sofar)
anythoughts about the skipping of the movie?

Im gonna play now,and ill keep you up to date

Hmm... Usually people did install errors, but I don't know about this one.
It doesn't sound like it.
The game can't find skeletons. As fs_spearman_big is the first one.
So it seems like some things are in the wrong places.
Did you point the IJ installers to the main RTW folder?

Did you let the IJ2 installer cmd run to the end?
How about the shortcut, is it right? It should be ike this:
"C:\(Rome Folder)\RomeTW-BI.exe" -mod:IJ -show_err

well on yre 3 questions,its a 3 times YES
main thing i changed is: ,i let the windows thing run to the End just now,
and now it works(so far)
Only whatabout the escape button to skip the movie(it ctd then)
and the screenshot says version 2.0,is that normal ??

The game crashes if you end the intro movie, and not f you don't?
That's strange.

Delete descr_transition_screen.txt, and the two files that start with quote... (I think quotes.txt and quotes_loockup.txt, or something close.)
Do that with all versions of these files in your installatin. (The ones in IJ, and also the vanilla and bi ones.)

Try installing lots of things from the IJ\OPTIONS folder, especially the CA intro movie.
Best install all the CA things, to be on the safe side, and the right script (361?).

It should say 2.01a, so that's probaly the problem.

Play the campaign for a while and see if it will crash, especially battles.
Keep me updated.

Firstly about this game: Magnificent
after playing RS mod for many months now,and trying to historically correctly recreate the Republican and Early till Midst Emperial Roman Empire,i was craving for a Follow up Mod on the LAte Roman Empire!
And till now,im astounded,the many new units and atmosphere are Great !




1 Q though,where is the generals Horn ???(the more sounds added,the more atmosphere imo)


2ndly,the Technical Side

1.just played for ...10 turns or so,and after my latest battle,when ending it in the statistics box,it CTDed

I don't understand. If you mean a sound effect, I can't help, I don't know anything about that.

That sounds like the quotes crash. have you deleted the files?

But I think so.

Yes, IJ is quite good.
If you are used to RS, you will have to get used to not having much income.
That's how it was in the the late empire.
But it's really fun and a challenge.

well i think the lines which are to be deleted are in a row of other lines,right?
when thats the case then i ask when i delete specific lines,do i let them ""open"',or press ""backspacebutton"" and make the other lines move up abit

For now,my campaign works without anymore CTDs,so im keeping you posted

The answer to number 2 is: push 'back space' button. That's what I did at least.
To number 1, I never noticed that before , so I don't know.

Same here. I think its still there.

2. You should delete the whole files.
- Go to your rome folder(with the data, IJ and bi folders in it) -> press search -> type "transition_screen"
-> delete all files that come up -> repat with "quote" -> delete all files that come up.

That's because the IJ quotes are known to cause crashes. I think there is a sticky about that.
But you say it works now. Does it still say IJ2?

Glad to help, the quotes thing was probably the problem, and before that some sort of faulty install.
IJ sometimes needs a bit of reinstalling before running, but it makes up for it with quality gameplay.

1 thing,I got another CTD you Guys might be interested in,

I was sieging Durocortorum in 360 AD(provincial gallic campaign),with my main Army under the leadership of Julian himself,after 4 turns a Frankish relief Army attacked me,and i chose to fight it out on the battlemap...BOOM CTD!!

Generic error:
failed to find texture "IJ/data/models/_unit/textures/Ar_mount_eastern_roman_horse_clibanarii.tga "

Ok,i went back in(hadnt saved yet),and yes there was this 1 unit of Clibanarii horsemen in my army,i send them away and disbanded the unit,pressed next turn and all went well(the relief army never showed again btw,and Durocortorum was taken 3 turns later!
So that solved the Ctd-affair entirely

So i better Not use any more Clibanarii nomore,right?,or maybe only as Eastern Romans in Grand Campaign?
(btw this unit was allready in the game at Lugdunum(i think), it was Not recruited by me obviously)


(btw the campaignscreen still says version2.0 )

Ok i have finished my campaign in gaul as general,took Cologne,Won the battle of Argentoratum,and killed as many barbarians as i could on the way(hehehehe),,took my 3(historicallycorrect?dunno) legions on route to the adriatic(to kill them all),but learned that them:Constantius II ,had perished,so no civil war..
Realism FTW !

Reinstall. I'm shure this is not the mod. Remember to delete all files from the old installation.
