RTW ONLINE MULTIPLAYER - NOT!!!!

Also, when I host a server, few people told me it simply crashed their client when they tried connecting.

PLS, PLS, PLS...HELP!

btw, the RTW client shows it's at 1.5, I did not confuse the BI and RTW icon either...:hmmm:

That's usually just a GS problem. You could try restarting your computer, or otherwise, just wait a day or two and try again.

I also uninstalled GS, before switching my computer for the nite...Completely pissed off...
And I tried rebooting the computer, reseting my network adapter...but to no avail...

i had the same prob at first. just download patch 1.5. even if u think u dont need to, just do it. it works

Ummm...when I try to run the 1.5 patch for RTW it says something like:

Rome - Total War - patch 1.5 - InstallShield Wizard
---------------------------
Rome - Total War - Gold Edition is installed on this machine, this patch is not compatible.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
same message comes if i try the 1.6 install for BI

If you have Gold Edition its already patched... Check your version, top right hand corner in the options menu.

I am a noob, but I didn't really fall off the dumbness tree...lol!
Thx for the idea, I already visited that download page. It's not the patches, the Gold version is already patched to 1.5 for RTW and 1.6 for the BI...

Dunno, I'm completely dismayed...

If you have Gold, and its already patched, why exactly are you patching? That doesn't help at all...

It does seem like a GS problem, though. You should really post this in the Technical Forum.

Legio: It won't let me do the patch. A few of my posts up is a CTRL+C and CTRL+V of the window that pops up when I try patching.

Scutarii: Will give it a shot at the Technical forum, if i find what and where is that...As for trying to re-patch with 1.5 it was just a desperate attempt, sometimes, patches will apply even on the newer version than the patch u are trying to install. I failed tho.

sometimes when you get failed to join --- several other players may be trying to join at same moment

when you get failed to join game--- game may be deador host disconnected

my advice is... make sure pc is rebooted and at peak performance (no update interruptions and firewall is configured correctly...) and host your own game or at least inquire about status of game in lobby i.e. ( is there still room in "suchandsuch" game)

in rtw friendly lobby these days (especially at peak times) several games up to play are in fact dead and not going anywhere...

i was just as frustrated as u r, Sunbird. I have the RTW gold ed too and i still had to download the patch (1.5). (i swore i already had it cause i had gold, but i asked people in the MP lobby and they said i had 1.3, so i downloaded 1.5) i just googled "rome total war patch 1.5" and clicked the first link. I downloaded the patch in seconds and was playing in no time. try google, and if it still doesnt work u may just have a dino computer. some of the things the patch does is set u to huge unit settings and all recorded battles from ur other RTW version wont work quite the same, and thats as much as ive discovered. hope u can work it out, Sunbird.
