Why the Rome Army not in red in SPQR

I thought the Rome Legions are always in red. But in SPQR, the Hastis, principles are all in blue. Is it the right color in history? I prefer red army, which is more bueatiful.

Historically i belive that polybian units where mostly dressed in white as the camillan ones. Just abit more armor on polybian. When the marius reforms hit and the use of republican units the color red appears. But mostly the color red was the color of the house of julii not necessary the republic of rome. Correct me if im entirely wrong...

actually there is some (historical) debate about this, our mental image of a red legion with square shield is somewhat incorrect for post marian legions (the cliched roman soldier) the polybian legion (as in hastati, principes and triarii) are most commonly assumed to wear a tunic of which white is the most common colour - however many historians argue agaist this saying white is unlikely as it was to closely assosiated with the home - so say a red or blue tunic would have been worn (readily available and fairly cheep - remember the soldiers came from rich sections of society and payed for their own equipment)

I heard after Sullas death for example, all soldiers wore black for some time. Don't remember how long, if it was a year or several.
Think i read it in a book somewhere, don't remember so can't post any references :p

I'm NOT gay but, being Gay has no bearing on fear in battle back then, the Sacred Band were deadly and they were all Homosexual. Plus alot of Romans and Spartans were Homosexual so being a homosexual doesnt mean your a wimp atleast back then it didnt. lol
