Error when installing the game

I have tried to install this great mod three times. Each time, after installing, I try to play the game and after the initial loading scene, the game crashes and I get a message saying "unable to find skeleton 'fs_slinger_new'". Each time that happened, I uninstalled BI, reinstalled it, patched it back to version 1.6, installed the mod, and it still didn't work.

Is there something I am doing wrong?

(oh and by the way I also have Europa Barbarorum installed, if that makes any difference.)

*What mod and version you're trying to install?
*From what mirror have you DL'd it?
*Do you have any other mods installed in the same directory where you have EB installed? Are they working normally?

I downlodoaded Ruina Romae from filefront, and I have no mods installed other than EB, which is working normally. Unfortunately, I am not really willing to uninstall EB so that I can play this game, so if that's what I have to do I guess I can't play this mod.

As julianus said the problem could be related to some changes made to the core files of RTW by EB. That happened to me once a while ago. But let's not assume that yet and let's run out of ideas first, what do you think?
If you agree, follow this suggestions:
The version used right now is IBRR (Ruina Romae) 7.03. So first DL and install v7.0 and then v7.03. Whichever mirror you've been DLing from (Megauploads or filefront), use the other now.
Hopefully you haven't done this yet, because if you have then I guess it is safe to assume that EB has already changed some crucial files of your RTW install . Well, AFAIK if you do that you'll be unable to run RTW because by uninstallling BI you'll lose some important files of RTW, and it won't run properly. Probably you just lost your RTW and EB installations, too. I hope that's not the case.

You really scared me when you said this, but I just tried running EB and it worked fine (although a lot slower than normal, but that might have just been a fluke.)

I uninstalled BI because I thought that if I wanted to try to install IB again I had to uninstall then reinstall BI to get a clean, unmodded version of the game. Is this step not necessary?

EDIT: I actually downlowded version 7.0, not 7.03, because I thought that I had to install 7.0 first, then 7.03. Oh one other thing, once it finished installing, a black box with script running down it appeared (like the one when you start your computer) but I just exited out of it. Does that happen to everyone, or is that unusual?

Aahh! That's what happened! My friend, you're interrupting the installing process. That's why it's not working. Just let it finish. About 7.0 and 7.03, first install 7.0 and then 7.03 .

It may well be EB as I think it alters the RTW data file. We usually recommend a clean RTW/BI folders.

If I were you I wouldn't uninstall BI. If it doesn't work, then I'd do it

Thanks for the advise everybody! Now the game works!

However, I do have a campaign map bug. I just started a Western Roman Empire campaign, and when I go over certain areas of the map, huge chunks of the map change into (mostly triangular) areas of solid color where I can't see the map. This isn't fatal, and I can still click on cities when covered by this thing, it's just annoying.

Well instead of 'IBFD.ico' you should have 'Rome TW-BI. exe'
