How to make the descr_strat file writable

I tried to alter the turns to 0.5 years but the file says it is read only, how do I make it writable?

Right click on the icon for med 2, then uncheck the "read only" box, and after you are done editing, make sure to re check it.

Or, right-click the descr_strat file and uncheck read-only

Ok, I did that, now when I try to save the file it says it cannot create the file =/

Playing on vista? Make sure all users have admin rights, this can be found in the properties of the file you are editing.

yup, i've got full admin rights, I tried changing the entire medieval 2 total war folder to writable just in case that was the problem, but when I change it then go back to properties, its still read only. The descr_strat file is writable now. Im not sure what the problem is.

Hmm I'm stumped, sorry I can't help you further. Try playing around with the options, vista is mean sometimes.

No need to fear.

Make a copy of descr_strat and save it documents. Then edit the descr_strat file in documents to make it what you want. Then copy the one you edited to the folder that descr_strat is in (imperial_campaign folder). Then delete the original, and change the name to the one you edited to descr_strat and viola!
