MTW2 + Windows7 beta

Hi people,

Just though I'd let you know that I've just been trying the Windows7 beta and obviously had to install MTW2 + SS6.1 straight away.

Fired it up and hey presto it worked like a treat

Started a Portugal campaign and am a few turns in with no CTD or anything. (Win7 seems pretty stable too, even at beta)

Cool.So Win 7 is better than Vista and XP for this mod?Except of beta the Win & make your harware to run better, faster the game?

How could it be better!? He just said it works well. So does it with XP and Vista.

A new OS is not like a magic potion. If you want a more stable gameplay: Keep your OS clean and your drivers up to date. If you want a faster gameplay (till the point you wont see a difference anyway) buy new hardware.

I do it all time.But all new OS said they take blood from hardware.Was a question sorry...

Gogo: It seems like win7 uses less RAM, as my usage is around 1.2gig in desktop while with Vista it seemed to hover around 1.5-1.7gig.
I've still got vista installed, just dual booting on a 2nd HD. So if you are strapped for RAM e.g. <2gig then win7 may help, although remember its a beta and liable to go belly up at any point!!

But it does mean that we can happily play SS for the long foreseable future with newer OSs

Vista was designed to utilize as much RAM as possible at any given time, this is not a bad thing and does not mean less RAM is available for other applications, such as MTW2.

from early reports of people using win7 beta - it does seem more memory efficient than vista.
may also help with the problems with the UAC and file systems.
