Error updating 1.05 Kingdoms

I have Vista, I turned off the one setting that installs stuff in the wrong place.

My Medieval is in C, Program Files, SEGA.

I am also using GameShadow for updating so I go refresh to see what updates I need to have. I download 1.05 for Kingdoms after which it sends me to WinRAR. I then go to setup.exe and it begins the updating process but I get this error:

Error: invalid or missing target C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\americas\packs\localized.pack

Failed to update Medieval II Total War: Americas, please apply this update again.

If this problem persists or you have modified the game files in any way, please try the following steps:

-Uninstall Medieval II Total War: Americas.
-Delete the C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\americas folder.
-Reinstall Medieval II Total War: Americas.
-Apply the Medieval II Total War: Kingdoms update.

Do you wish to continue updating Medieval II Total War: Kingdoms?

I didn't mess with it at all. I went to the C:\Program Files\SEGA\Medieval II Total War\mods\americas\packs\localized.pack folder and clicked on localized.pack and said it needed to be specified a program to be opened. Maybe that is the issue?

If I say yes to continue it gives the same error but with another branch of the expansion...Teutonic or Crusades etc.

Localized.pack is the problem as dealing with which language and version you have.

Pick the right language and the right version or you'll get the same error.

Should I get the gold version? I bought medieval 2 and the kingdoms in America apart. Does it make a difference?

I have reinstalled all my game but it does not help.

Only two reasons. Either downloaded the wrong patch or your copy of the patch is bad. Just redownoad it.

I downloaded three different patches and all of them have the same problem.

Ok my version of Medieval II is the normal one. But my copy of Kingdoms is the white label (budget with just the disk) one. It does not say gold anywhere on the box.

So which version of the patch do i meed?

Another question, I believe Kingdoms 1.5 is the same thing as 1.05, isn't it?

Kingdoms Update is Kingdoms Update whether you say 1.5 or 1.05. Same beast. When you download it, it is language specific as in US for US, UK for UK, etc. It is also very specific whether Gold, non-Gold, Steam, Direct2Drive. Look on your box or your envoice and find out what language you bought and go from there. Depending on where you live, you may download six copies before you get one that works. The secret? If the localized.pack doesn't match it won't update.

The thing is that I do not have localized.pack problem. I have americas_intro problem. (please look at my first post.)

I did and that is the reason for me posting it the way I did. The info for the americas_intro is buried in the localized.pack. When the installer reads it, it reads the lovalized.pack for the info for the file it's installing. The two don't match, it kicks you out of the update.

The best way I know at this point is totally uninstall the game, delete all Sega folders, clean the registry, reboot for good luck, install Medieval2, install Kingdoms and all four campaigns, and then try to install the patch.

Did not help... Tried 7 times... with full reinstallation...

I do not know what else to do...

You have many choices. Exactly what language? Exactly where did you buy it?

I have Kingdoms 1.04 retail version. But I do not know if it is UK or USA version.

What other programs, especially games have you installed between the time you installed Kingdoms and trying to install this patch?
