Default few questions after reading stickies and the FAQ

hello everyone new on stainless steel 6.1
i already played a little 4.1 on MTW II
Now that i've got kindgoms i'm trying this one
first all great job of course thx to the modders !

    now my questions :
    - is it normal than when i press on "next" button for the late era campaign i crash ?

    - i read somwhere that each faction has at least two advanced stellments whith advanced units at the beginning of the campaign is that true for the early era ?

-i'm not an expert at MTW i'm looking for a fun gameplay, challenging, but not by cheats : for example having malus and giving material bonus to AI like it was on the vanilla version i think. Right now i've been playing SS 6.1 without GR (thing) III, leaving II on, and with Real Recruitement. I was H/M and... well i've experienced some difficulty to fight alone the english (i play france)... what i look for is something medieum-normal difficulty where the AI isn't passive and stupid. Any suggestions on which config i must have to get to that ?

    - is the upkeep cost of an army expensivness normal ? i mean is it the result of a sub mod that i could uninstall or is in the original version of SS 6.1 ?

-in the few hours i've played there have been two crusades, each one towards a christian faction. i know that can happen. but i hope all the crusades won't be against a christian faction, and the pope will consider going towards the holy land ...

    - finally tips to get the game going faster ? especially when the turns end and all those beautfiul factions pass by...

    thx for your help !

    - no. When you choose late era you get another screen where you have to choose late era in the window to the right and press ok. In the next screen (faction selection) you should only click once on the faction you want and then press ok. Pressing multiple factions after each other makes the game crash.

    - i read somwhere that each faction has at least two advanced stellments whith advanced units at the beginning of the campaign is that true for the early era ?

no - you start with basic unit capabilities in early.

    - SS gives the ai lots of money and ekstra armies in some cases. You could remove those scripts if you don't like them (I have removed most of them and toned down others myself). I find the ai to be acceptable, but there are other versions available in the sub-mods if you want.

    - is the upkeep cost of an army expensivness normal ? i mean is it the result of a sub mod that i could uninstall or is in the original version of SS 6.1 ?

Sounds like a sub-mod. In the basic version of SS a chivalric knight is one of the most expensive non-merc units at around 400 florins/turn

-in the few hours i've played there have been two crusades, each one towards a christian faction. i know that can happen. but i hope all the crusades won't be against a christian faction, and the pope will consider going towards the holy land ...

If nothing dramatic happens the first crusade is most often against cairo. I've seen crusades against Jerusalem and Rome (held by me (turks)) too.-

    - finally tips to get the game going faster ? especially when the turns end and all those beautfiul factions pass by...

    - Cant help you there. Disabling the scripts might hurry things along a bit.

    thx for your help !

On the subject AI, you consider the following:
    1. 6.1 Try Lusted Campaign and Battle AI, found under sub mods, I used this playing as Norway and found my enemies relentlessly attacking me. Particularly the Seljuks and Fatimids in the Outremer who are very aggressive. I played on M/M.

    2. 6.2 See 6.2 thread, but I understand AI is very aggressive, not fond of alliances. Try playing the Cumans or Kwarzmezians, when Mongol invasion arrives, now that will be pressing.

Knights don't get a lot more expensive in upkeep as they get better - they just get better...
