    Default Anyone buy off Steam?

I bought the Rome Complete Pack on Steam because it was so cheap but to my dismay the multiplayer doesn't work. It says "Invalid CD Key" but Steam doesn't give you a CD key so I'm not sure what to do. I asked over at the Steam RTW forums but they are pretty much dead so I was wondering if anyone here bought off of Steam and got MP to work.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Well, to my knowledge, you must have a CD-Key to play multiplayer.

I'd contact Steam about this, sounds like you should receive one from them since they sold you the product.

Oh man...dude I wanna let you know that it was ClunytheScourge's YouTube videos with you that made me wanna get this game in the first place, and it's why I'm so keen on getting into the MP. You guys rock.

But yeah, I contacted Steam support and they basically told me to take it up with CA. Doesn't make a lot of sense to me but I've dealt with Steam support before and there's no use arguing with them. I guess CA didn't give Steam a version where the MP works without a CD key or whatever, and I doubt they'll do that just because of me so screw that. Hell it was only $10, and I've already gotten enough enjoyment out of the single-player to be worth double that so I'm not opposed to just buying a retail version. Problem is I can't find it in a store anywhere (I live in a small town so no Gamestop or anything, just Wal-Mart basically).

Is there somewhere online where I can pay with a credit card and just get a working CD key?

Yep! The TWC store is one. This is the link for the Uk/Eu store. and here is the one for the Us store.

You can also look at other online stores, amazon for example, play.com as well. They sell the game with package.

I recieved my game without a cd-key. I sent a mail to Sega and they offered to give me a cd-key if I sent them a copy of my receipt. (I had already sent the game back and bought a new one before I got this answer)

So, I don't know whether you have a receipt or any proof that you've actually bought it, but you should try mailing Sega. Answering can take a few days though.

Well, that might be an option, except that Stella might not have gotten a receipt from Steam. I have got them through PayPal, so I don't know how that works for other ways.

Steam is terrible for downloading games compared to GamersGate... Looking at just the RTW copy, it has tons of problems with online, mods, and having multiple installs (folders). I like having my disc.

mee too I don't like the idea of downloading and paying them (and ending up with making a disc myself) Soo much hassle. I like to get them in full disc format (makes me feel well worth the money )

I've downloaded a couple of small games, Audiosurf, Team Fortress 2, World of Goo, Portal. Those don't even have a separate CD so that's not biggie.
But I think we are digressing a bit from he OP...

Of these facts there cannot be any shadow of doubt: for instance, that civil society was renovated in every part by Christian institutions; that in the strength of that renewal the human race was lifted up to better things-nay, that it was brought back from death to life, and to so excellent a life that nothing more perfect had been known before, or will come to be known in the ages that have yet to be. - Pope Leo XIII

Thanks for the suggestions guys, went ahead and ordered it off amazon...keeping myself busy with Roma Surrectum (which is awesome and surprisingly works with my steam version) til it gets here.

Btw Selifator, just watched your battles with Loki on Youtube, great stuff.

Thanks! I'm glad you're enjoying them, the latest ones were of a long list of fun battles we had, just selecting armies that are not competitive at all, and just beat the crap out of each other.
