    Default How chivalrous are you?

This is mostly relevant to 1v1's, but how fair do you fight in multiplayer? I will usually give up big advantages in 1v1 in order to make the battle more fair. I think it makes the game more fun for both people. I'd rather lose in a contentious battle than win with a crazy advantage. 2v2 and higher is different I think since it's a team effort. Advantages and disadvantages are usually averaged out between the teammates.

Not everyone appreciates it though. I got a few wins against one guy and he kept demanding rematches. So every time we'd play, I'd make a junkier and junkier army. After about the third game I ended up with an army that consisted of Kwarizmian cavalry, Nubian spearmen, and Kurdish javelin men. Predictably, I lost badly, which lead to the most epic bout of trash talk I'd ever witnessed. He continued it on into the lobby, talking about how he "saved the replay to show everyone how be beats noobs!" and then went on to say that if I ever wanted to learn how to play that he would be willing to teach me. Lol, oh well.

Me....... I never fight fair, I have witnesses....... I've been know to cheat in my own hosted games by my own set rules, I have witnesses. I love a good high hill while the enemy has to deploy in a pickle barrel, making a wonderful target for my artillery, even though the rules stated no artillery......Not a chivalrous bone in my body....

Lol, no, I didn't know it was going to turn into a major conflagration at the time of playing. I should have saved the text buffer though, it was hilarious.

It depends on the opponent. If they keep trash talking me, I'll come back to the rematch with deceptive tactics and devastating weapons galore. If my opponent is also chivalrous, I'll be polite.

I've pulled off a few wins by cavalry spam before, but hey it was in a no rules game... so in that respect all's fair in love and war...

The point is though that it's an online game you play with people for a good time. Some people only win because they exploit flaws in the game, not true military tactics.

Well if they are in the game, they aren't flaws! they were purposefully put there! Thats my philosophy so I dont feel guilty for "cheating" or just winning plain and simple

There are some tricks though that I feel unbalance the game. I know a few not so obvious methods to almost guarantee a heroic victory in a 1v1 and not break any rules. I don't use them though because, it's not fun playing just to win and it can drive off new players to the game. If you haven't been playing long you won't know some of the exploitive tricks you will get steamrolled every time for seemingly no reason. That person probably isn't going to be interested in playing for long.

Sorry, but your "philosophy" makes me sick. Game developers aren't infallible, that's why they release patches. Glitching and exploits are cheating; feel free to use them in single player, but if you're using them to unfairly ruin someone else's experience, well, you're a cheater. If you wouldn't do it on a LAN where your "victim" could punch in the face, don't do it online. Anonymity brings out the worst in people...

Just play CWB rules or some sort of tournament rules, and most of them won't even play. If they do, they think they will win, they get pwnt, and you walk off a winner. If you play their rules, they proably will win .

Once faced a guy playing unlimited money, but he just set himself as defender and went on top of a hill.
