Default 90% of AI Bankrupt... normal?

Playing SS6.1 with a few sub mods (mainstream ones like RR/SSCT/etc) So nothing that would change the game drastically.

Anyway, I just checked the faction rankings on turn 80 and 90% of the AI is bankrupt. Some of them have been at 0 for like 30 turns. Is this normal? I am just concerned because I am playing for a challenge and I dont want to waste my time just to find out that if the AI is bankrupt then its going to be easy street.

Oh yea, my settings are VH for campaign btw.

They are just spending it. It's not like they get interest for saving.

Do Ai Factions just spend all their money up front, or do they keep some in the kitty for merc hire/bribery/diplomacy, etc?

They get a hot money injection when they run out, but usually dont hoard.

From my experience of letting the AI control my economy, the AI likes to keep a float of 2-3,000 fl at the end of each turn - some of which it might spend on single turn building projects or odds and ends. Letting the AI run the human economy I only went into the red when I spent more money than the AI budgeted for.

(that was some time ago - so you'll need to test it for any particular sub-mod or patch to see if it's still true.)
