Keeping faction reputation

So from what I read, attacking another faction usually ruins one's reputation and I remember the advice being to simply take a few invasions in on your land first and then retaliate once the aggressor's rep goes down.

What about the sea? It doesn't really belong to either faction - would navy attacks lower one's rep as well? I'm playing Moors and Algiers keeps getting invaded by Sicily. I'd really like to build a large fleet and just sink all the incomers. What about blockading ports and such?

Also, what is one expected to do in an alliance? Simply never to attack that faction? Or does one need to send in reinforcements and declare war on ally's enemies (to keep/increase one's rep)?

And any hints on good ways to boost one's rep?

Honestly never execute your enemies' prisoners and try to occupy as many settlements as possible and your rep is safe.

Keep alliances, don't attack factions (wait until they attack you), occupy settlements, release prisoners, carry out promised things (you offer to attack a faction for you ally make sure you do).

I agree, in vanilla m2tw you can run over anyone, I don't see the point of having a good rep.

Oh and Rebel you have no idea how hard it is to keep sarcastic comments to myself right now

don't set up trade rights with people that are too far away to trade. Doing so means your breaking your promises and not trading with them and their relations will go down as will your rep for lying id presume.
