Default American Civil War using Americas campaign

I was looking around the forums, and I came across several files that allowed the use of US cavalry, infantry, and artillery from the Wild West era. That's just after the Civil War.

So, the idea popped into my head that, if the Americas campaign map is tweaked and shifted north some, you could probably make a Civil War mod. The basic three units we know can already be made--and these soldiers are in Union blue, so a basic retexturing would create Confederate gray. Then possibly, a few more text files to create militia, zouaves, and the like.

Would be pretty cool, except the only modding I know is basic mapping and text editing--perhaps I'll conjure up the motivation to learn modelling and texturing just to do this. Just thought I'd throw this idea out to inspire the more able and experienced.

Someone could do this, but it's doubtful since ETW will be out in a few months

Yeah I'd say wait it out for ETW.

I saw the US Cav models but I never downloaded them... they were astounding pieces of work, but were made to 1930's Hollywood specs. (Errol Flynn, "They Died with their Boots on").

Anyways, they say that ETW will be more moddable than any of the games in the series have been. Hopefully this will go for units too, and we will have a ACW mod in another year or so.
Yes, I hate the fact RTW is out and I still have a Japanese title. Come on now admins- let's get with the program.

Or maybe it'll be an expansion of it's own.
