Re: after about an hour it just closes. no error or window or anything eb 1.2 just closes
What are you doing when it closes?
Have you installed the v1.2 fixes? Without the sprites fix it will close after a couple battles...

Mid-battle crashes are often due to too high of graphics. If you get lag in battle often, try turning down your battle graphics.
Also try downloading updates for any hardware drivers.

Mid-battle crashes are usually due to hardware/software. Try installing new drivers.
For lag on the campaign map, try turning off shadows on the campaign graphics option menu.

Video Driver is a must, you must always keep it up to date. And the official drivers won't break your computer, do a windows update / and if you got a 3rd party video card like Nvidia or ATI get over to their homepages and check out their new drivers.
I had a problem somewhat like what you have, only I didn't get error reports, I deleted my rome directory and reinstalled after backing up my saved games, I haven't had the problem since.
The fact you are fighting good sized battles, with no lag means you must have some sort of good card, I would almost bet your install is corrupted.

Same way you install it to XP, by installing to the same folder you installed RTW. Although, it is recommended that you do not install RTW under the "Program Files" directory (other than that, it doesn't matter where), then just install EB to the same place.
