A very nooby question

Ok, well I am playing a campaign as the irish, and I hired some mercenaries to help fight a battle. Does the cost to hire them get deducted each turn they serve? For example: I hire a merc swordsman for 230 florians, do I pay 230 every turn?

When you hire them, you pay a expensive price, but their upkeep is also alot higher than normal.

If you buy them at 230 Florins, that doesnt mean your paying 230 every turn, it is probably a bit higher due to them being Mercs.

Check their unit card and you'll see Upkeep Cost: ---- Florins
