http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=180793 - will give you some info, especially if you look into the 'Old releases' section.

    - Deus Lo Vult, the ultimate Role-playing mod for M2:TW, the campaign has far more depth than any other mod that exists, as well as User friendly tutorials when first starting up for new DLV players. It is extremley hard and will leave you feeling battered and bruised but you will be happy :original:. There are so many Role-playing elements it's impossible to name them all, but from finding legendary swords, to crowning - promoting your generals through the ranks to locking them in dungeon - DLV will test your metal. Keeping the Americas (but actually accurate this time) and of course and without restrictions you can cross them early in the game as any of the factions, and develop an economic Powerhouse - providing you can actually destroy the Aztec tribes. If you do decide to download DLV, it's best to choose the Historical campaign :original:

I'd download the Open Beta's if I were you since they are by far the best to date.

    Some main list of changes:

    > Many, many new factions!
    > Larger campaign map with dozens of new provinces!
    > Brand new unit textures, and units!
    > Many new buildings for the campaign map,
    > Realistic promotion system for generals,
    > Dozens and dozens of new ancillaries added - e.g. (Duke of York, Lord of Ireland, Governor of Rome),
    > Education system
    > Many role playing events!
    > New campaign and battle Ai

Can't think of much since I'm helping develop another mod, I'm sure the other DLV'ers will post more info

Also there are many threads like this, check - 'Fast Forward from Rome, need help' and 'Ex- SS Addict, New to DLV'

putting it simple, a DLV description would be something like this:

    from vanilla difficulties:
    easy/normal/hard/very hard/expert/epic/DLV

new units, new nations. new looks for old units. big map (europe+america+northafrica). lots of stone forts on the map.

desitions to be made during gameplay. a lot. hard ones.

highly developed trait and ancillary system (meaning extremely fleshy generals)

lots of stuff related with economy. from buildings to sheer gameplay logic
(the first rule in DLV is "dont siege unless you are rich... very very rich")

battle handling is becoming harder and harder with each DLV edition (meaning better AI)

all in all, it is a challenge. it wont be a cakewalk. it will make you run for that page who holds the cheat commands. and in the end it will make you feel threatened, elated in victory, anxious in face of defeat (or civil war)... and more times than not.. just angry and impotent watching the AI destroy you...

and it comes with a way of making it easier if you want to... just in case.

There are two approaches you can take to getting the answers to your questions. Take the time to read the handbook, read the threads on this forum, basically those things that Dauntless linked for you and more. The other approach would be to dive right in. If you are a blitzer, you're in for a big surprise. If you are meticulous and methodical in your approach to your turns, you will do just fine.

Seriously, the best description I can come up with for Deus Lo Vult is that it is like no other TW mod you've ever played. And that's a good thing.

DLV is hard and leaves you feeling insecure. Taking an army into field incurs field costs. Entering enemy territory increases costs and should you seige an enemy settlement/castle the costs skyrocket. Focus on developing your economy and aim at many more settlements to castles (as you can't switch them now). Castles cost a lot and don't generate much income. Use stone forts (keep 4 units in them for free support cost as your lads live off the land). Make sure you move your king to the captial (and that he does not have a full amount of auxillaries) so he can be crowned. Take your prince and give him good fighting auxirries and send him out with the troops you can spare/afford to quell rebels. Bloodying and training him up will give him (hopefully) good king traits when his time comes. Avoid two front wars. Avoid war that has no end plan and only go for objectives if they can be met. Otherwise, fuelling many armies will drain your treasury. Spies and the rest also cost extra to have out and about.

This game is not for the power-player who wants no slog. It is very hard - but rewarding!
