Bloody map. I was going to remap eastern Persia and Transoxiana tonight, but the current map is terrible. I don't even know where to begin. I'll have to do most of the physical features on the map over again. This sucks.

How feasible would it be to ask the VII team for their large map (the tilted one), and rework ExRM for that?
There are other maps of course. The mundus magnus for ones. And then the warmap, but that, large as it may be, doesn`t cover your current area(it stopps short to the east I think). I think webbird`s map is based on the latter. Then there is also the rg map. Very big, but you`ll kinda have to include the mauryans with that. And yes, the vanilla rtr 6 map is alot of work if you want to follow a real map for inspiration.
I know, I could switch, but I'm so used to the RTR6G map that I can't bring myself to do it. Plus, it would be a pain in the neck.
Here's the thing, too: I think I can do a better job with the RTR6G map. I've run so many practice games on here that I know how the AI thinks with it, so I know what needs to be fixed. (Jamey, too. He's done a lot.) I think I can deliver a better gameplay experience with the RTR6G map.
I looked back over it and only the Far East is really bad. I think I'm just going to flatten it and rebuild the mountain chains from scratch. There's not enough to make it worth saving.

Could you try the Terra Incognita idea with the deserts and steppes? They're not worth conquering, their presence gives the AI opportunities to go wrong, and they're generally a waste of space and provinces. AFAIK RTR 7 treats the separated territories as one big province, with its capital on an inaccessible island somewhere. Ireland might be the ideal location for this.
Hmmm, that's a good idea, but I think we've got the problem largely under control now. I don't think the AI can find the Sahara anymore, and I'm going to do something similar with the Arabian Peninsula. Not sure how the steppe is doing. I think Jamey said that his most recent fixes made the Sarmatians more effective, so I'm going to not worry about that for the moment.
I've spent all evening remapping the topography of the eastern regions, and it's gone from "WTF" to "bleh." I want to spend some more time with the Jaxartes River and the Arachosia area, and then I think I'll declare victory and move on. It's not going to be perfect, but it'll be at least vaguely accurate and the AI should behave much better out there (that's why I want to work on Arachosia and environs--I think with a little tweaking I can really make the AI work a lot better).
