We Caucasian Americans did not immigrate to this country. We conquered it. We nearly annihilated an entire ethncitiy of mankind to do it, on the Northern Continent anyway. After that, it became ours by right of war and occupation. It really is that simple. After the Emancipation Proclamation by Abraham Lincoln, African Americans were given their freedom and subsequently became entitled to that right as well. A culture which has evolved uniquely over the last 200 years is justified in seeking it's sustainment, especially against a group of immigrants who are coming over in such massive numbers to exert change upon it. True, after the country's foundations were laid several countries bequeathed to us immigrants looking for a better life. But these were from many nations, with many languages, with many cultures which could easily, thoroughly, and rather quickly absorb and become integral parts of our country. The case here is completely different. We see an influx of immigrants from the same ethnic backgrounds (that would be Native American/Latino) speaking the same language, having little differences in culture. The completely awesome power of this influx is being felt strongly by our country, in a way that was not felt by us in the past because of the transportation revolution of the previous century. Immigration to this country is actually the only thing keeping our country growing. But it needs to be reformed big time. And it needs to be brought under national control in a way that lets those here already Americanize properly.
