    Default Boats...huge boats.

In the Extended Realism 3.3.4 mod, how do I edit the boats so that they are small again? I can't stand the floating cities where my boats used to be?

    Welcome to the forum!

Do you mean the larger strat map icons for the boats? If so, I'm not quite sure. I inherited those with the mod and never had to change them.

Try replacing the section in our descr_models_strat.txt under "Admirals" with the relevant lines from RTRPE or Vanilla. That might work.

If you want to keep the existing models, just make them look small, add a scale line between skeleton and indiv_range. When omitted, it defaults to 1. Try setting it to 0.5 and see if you like that better.

Son of a gun! You can set their size through text editing? I thought it requires editing the model. Useful to know. Thanks!

I added the scale line and it works perfectly. The ships fit now into the harbor.

However, I shall try 0.75 this may be better.

    Thank you for the tip!!

    Okay, but I'm dumb.

What directory, txt file, etc., do I access to edit the scale? What command will I type? I'm not that programmer savvy.

EDIT: Errr....nevermind. I figured it out.

At 0.5 - the boats are to small. They are more aesthetic at the 0.7 setting.

    This is a nice change!

Go to: data\descr_models_strat.txt and activate "find", type "admirals" and you find the section where you need to add "scale 0.7" or 0.5, if you prefer.

If a 70-year old can do it, you can do it!

Ok, I'll give that a try. I always thought the boats were a little big.

    You're 70? Cool!

Speaking of 70, I recommend everyone make sure to remember the decimal point in these directions. Otherwise, things get very strange.

Quinn: It's my grandfather (Rex) who made the changes; we are a team. I am Fridericus, an attorney and economist.

Your grandfather is modding? That's awesome. My (paternal) grandfather would've loved this stuff, but he passed away about ten years ago.

An attorney _and_ economist? Cool. I'm just an attorney.
