    Default Prov_Campaign Descr & Loading bar

    One is definitely a text question the other may not be.

    How do I get my Provincial Campaign description to show on the Provincial Campaign selection menu?

    I've tried placing it in mod/data/text/battle_descr and in mod/data/text/campaign_descr worded like this;

    Code:
    {My_mod_title}
    {my_mod_descr}
    Yet I can never see anything but the words: 'No Campaign Description' when I select my mod for a provincial campaign.

    Now this may not be a text question but:

    How do I get a custom loading bar to show up? Instead of the red loading area that is in the vanilla?

    I changed all the files I could find with the red area:

    my mod/data/loading_screens/ loading_logo_and_bar, loading_bar, loading_bar_overlay, etc.

    Yet, whenever I load a game, I still get the red bar. Do I need to change a text file to point at the mod folder or am I missing something?

    (Sorry if in wrong area)

    1) Go to text/menu_english.txt and edit the {UI_FACTIONS_NO_DESCRIPTION} tag.

    2) You need to put the data/loading_screen/loading_bar.tga into the mod pack.

    Thanks Aradan, but just to make sure I understand.

    1. I make an edit like this;

    my_mod/text/menu_english.txt to read {UI_MY_MOD_DESCRIPTIONS}?

    2. Just place it loose in the pack folder?

    [sorry if I'm being dense]

    1. Well, your .txt file should go like that.

    Code:
    {UI_FACTIONS_NO_DESCRIPTION} This is the IncaTW Prov campaign Description. IncaTW rocks!
    2. yep.

    (Double Post BUMP)

    -So, I did as you said regarding getting the Provincial Campaign description and it works. I would have never ever figured that one out. It seems like such a random place for that description. Also, what if you have more than one Provincial campaign? Do you need to create some new UI entry?

    - I'm a bit confused by your answer for the loading bar. I created a packs folder in my mod folder and placed the tga file you mentioned in it and it didn't work. Do I have to make an actual PAK file for this to work?

    I don't think you can have more than 1 descriptions... Could be wrong, wouldn't be the first time.

    Yes, the loading bar must be inside the mod's .pak file(s).

    Looks like I'm learning how to make a pak file.

    Thanks again Aradan

    In BI you can definitely get more than one provincial campaign description (EoD2 has) - think the deciding factor was you had to have the prov campaign folder inside maps/campaign/custom/ folder then the contents of the description.txt file within the prov campaign folder works.... there was some reason related to the text files why it needed to go in there and I think its this issue.

    description.txt just needs to contain the description in plain text no {} bits or title.

    Will what your saying work also in a non-BI mod folder?

    Like placing the provincial campaign like so:

    RTW/my_mod folder/data/world/maps/custom/my_mod ? And this will still show up in the provincial campaign menu?

    just tried it on RTW mod folder it does work
    found where I got the info from see this post
    http://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?p=1263684
    (knew it couldn't have been me that worked it out!)

    note that isn't one of the existing custom folders you have to make a new /custom folder inside the campaign sub folder and move the entire provincial campaign in there so its in

    RTW/my_mod folder/data/world/maps/campaign/custom/my_mod

    not one of the existing custom folders

    you also need to make sure the campaign name at the top of descr_strat is the same as the prov folder name - and it won't show any words in the title after a space in that title over the description box see Atilius's post on the linky

    Thank you so much Makanyane! I tried doing a search for this very thing and ended up with hundreds of posts containing the word provincial and campaign and description.

    I will re-arrange my mod folder as indicated since we would like to have multiple campaigns available within our mod.

    Thank you both Makanyane and Aradan for your help.
