RTR Platinum Edition was a conversion of 6.0 Gold for the RTW 1.5 patch, which came out after 6.0 Gold. Among many features of 1.5, the most important was the fixing of the save-reload bug, which meant factions no longer abandon their previous plans whenever the game was reloaded. For that alone, Platinum became the default choice of RTR 6. Platinum reached its final release as RTR PE 1.9, as its developers were called away to work on RTR VII.
RTR VII is the current in-progress version of RTR being worked on. After the RTR 7 team drifted away, MarcusCorneliusMarcellus got a new team together to begin work afresh. Since it had been some time since the last release of RTR, it was decided to give fans a taster of their work, and also to focus the developers on producing something they could see and play. Thus mini-campaigns, focusing on limited areas of the map, were produced. The Iberian Conflict was the first such, portraying the Carthaginian conquest of Iberia under Hamilcar and Hannibal. Fate of Empires is currently being previewed, which will look at the Second Punic War. There are overlaps between TIC and FOE, showing how the mini-campaign concept works.
RTR TIC is the first mini-campaign released for RTR VII, which is made for the RTW 1.6 patch (using BI.exe). It uses mod switch, meaning it installs to its own folder, and doesn't touch your vanilla installation. Most newer mods, including newer versions of RTR PE, also use mod switch, so as to allow multiple mods on the same PC. It is a standalone mod, that only requires the correct version of RTW to play.
