slow scroll speed

I was wondering if anyone out there could help me get faster/smoother scroll speeds when playing on the campaign map, as it appears to be pretty choppy. ive already tried the usual remedies, like lowering AA, lowering res, etc, but nothing is helping. ive also tried messing around with some of the information in the prefrences folder. whats disturbing about this problem is that this computer is more than able to run the game smoothly. here are my specs

q9550 @2.83 ghz
8 GB of DDR2
ati 4870
windows vista 64 bit

Well, you can turn off shadows in the campaign map, that helps a bit. Just lower the quality on the campaign map in general if that doesnt work. how many men can be on the field at once in your games? that might tell us how your compt runs.


other than that just the grapshics card.

Turn off campaign shadows. If its still choppy, your computer isn't all that great. You really shouldn't be having problems though, I ran it perfect off of 512 MB of RAM, a decent vid card, and Win XP.

Campaign shadows always slow it down for me and my computer isn't half bad. Switch that off and you should see it move smooooooothly...ohhhhh yeah...and so on.

grass and shadows are the main reason for lag and freezes so just turn it off, atleast shadows and put grass to low if you really want it...

Try editing your preferences.txt:

CAMPAIGN_MAP_MAX_SCROLL_SPEED_MIN_ZOOM:60
CAMPAIGN_MAP_MAX_SCROLL_SPEED_MAX_ZOOM:60

That worked for me.
