Cant get it to work

Whenever I attempt to launch it says MTW2 encountered an unspecified error and will now exit. I did remove the old game and reinstalled but to no avail. Ideas?

I tried to reinstall again and this time making sure no registry leftovers were around. It worked.
But as I finally enter the game, give the parliamentarians a bloody beating I encounter new problems.

Neither mine nor enemy saker fire. I made sure no friendly units were around.

Also, after both my battles the game goes back to strategy map. But it keeps "thinking", the hourglass
keeps spinning on and never stops. My specs are high up and my settings not very demanding.
I can scroll around and look at the map but not save nor continue. Really frustrating because I
do enjoy this mod immensely.

That's very strange. I've only experienced the hourglass problem a couple of times, both times loading a battle and that was back in the initial version. If there's anything else you could tell me. . .
