1.2 manual patch - how to? (dead FAQ link)

i have RTW 1.5, with BI installed, and i was wondering if i could still do the 1.2 manual patch so that i can play RTR gold. from my understanding, 1.2 was actually better in alot of regards, like in diplomacy and such, and i wanted to play that way again. i read the stickied FAQ, but the link to explaining how to install it was dead.

RTR Platinum is much better than RTR Gold, believe me. It uses the BI engine which beats the RTW engine by a mile.
To answer your question though, I'm rather convinced you cannot downgrade from 1.5 to 1.2.

I'd suggest playing RTR PE for a 'grand campaign' but also download and play RTR VII TIC for an idea of what the 'next generation' of RTR games is like.

RTR PE does have the advantage of having various patches available - the revolt CTD fix for instance.

It is possible to downgrade RTW from 1.3 (and above) to RTW 1.2 but then it wants a different set of discs than the ones you installed with. This makes it a pointless excercise!
