    Default The Strategy Map

Hi I'm new to Dominion Of The Sword. Just looked at the preview and I though it all looked amazing except for one thing. The strategy map. I am a big fan of Europa Barbarorum which, if you don't know, is a mod of Rome Total War for the same period. I've never played a game for so long as I have that one. I love all the historical detail and the complexity of the whole thing. Dominion Of The Sword sounds like it will be the EB of M2TW and could well be even better. But I was dissapointed when I saw shots of the strategy map. I don't know how they did it but the map for EB is so much better than the original Rome game. The sea has waves, looks fluid and you can see clouds reflecting off it. The map has a life of its own. If at all possible I recommend that the DOTS team emulates this or tries to out do it. It might seem quite insignificant but as so much of my time playing is spent studying the land and planning my strategy it makes the whole game a lot more enloyable if it looks as good as it does in EB. Thats my thought. But yeah apart from that the whle mod looks brilliant and so much better than M2TW which I was dissapointed with. I will definately be giving it a go when it comes out.

If you want to contact the EB team go www.europabarbarorum.com
The EB2 mod leader is Foot and will probably be able to point you in the direction of people who could seriously sex up your campaign map lol.

The map is still being worked it. It's nowhere near finished. Maps seen in preview won't be used.

Ah yeah the sea is looking a lot better there. The sea is darker in the newer images in that link you gave me which I think is a big improvement already. The standard sea colour looks like a tropical lagoon not a vast dark ocean.

I always imagine the middle ages as being a generally pretty dark and dismal period especially in western europe. So I personally would like to get that sort of feel from the map when playing. Looking forward to trying this mod out. I think I'll start off as Venice or Milan.

Might play as one of those too, but I will mould the 'Communi Lomabardi' faction into Genoa, instead of Milan, and I will sack Venice from the seas!

I have to agree, EB did a very nice job with the map.

As has been said, the map is currently not even playable. That is the very bottom base of what it will look like in a few months when it's finished.
A new mobile phone tower went up in a town in the USA, and the local newspaper asked a number of people what they thought of it. Some said they noticed their cellphone reception was better. Some said they noticed the tower was affecting their health.

A local administrator was asked to comment. He nodded sagely, and said simply: "Wow. And think about how much more pronounced these effects will be once the tower is actually operational."

The best TW map I have actually seen in Peninsula Italica 2's - it is so realistic - forests and mountains in particular have been beautifully represented...
