iirc both were previewed years ago. They`re as secret as anything publicly presented.
Uh where are the old previews ("RTR 7"?) ?? The "Years ago" was before I came to play RTR right?
UPDATE: I digged some old threads. But there is nothing except for CB's own units. Where are the old RTR 7 previews? :hmmm:

Yes, it was in the autumn/winter of 2006. I think the ones above were part of a guess the unit preview. It was posted at the rtr forums and here just as a link. The images were scrambled and uncovered piece by piece until someone guessed them. Unfortunately a few were guessed pretty quick. I mean mcm made a post for one with get your history books and try your luck kinda speech and someone guessed it after a few posts. I think it was the cretan archer made by Caius. And the next one was Publius`s etruscan hoplite I think and it got guessed from the first post in a matter of a couple minutes. And there were renders made uncovering the unit to last for another 6 days.Quite funny.
A number of the previewed units are part of TIC. Others(the pictures) went down with the rtr forums.

The forum still gives me the same error message:What happened to it?? :hmmm:Update - 09 Nov 07
The forums will be put on hold until futher notice.
It was before my time, so I'm not entirely sure, but I know that there were a lot of technical difficulties that were being very elusive to pin down. I think it was thought that the effort being expended in trying to resolve issues would be better spent on the mod itself. As we already had a healthy RTR forum running, here at TWC, we closed our main forum and moved here.
I know that some people miss the old RTR forum, but TWC has become a good home for us and their Admin. has always been very helpful. I can't think of anything offhand that we had in the old forum that we couldn't do here as, apart from general moderation, there is no direct involvement from TWC in how we run things here.
If there's something that you really miss from the old days then please let us know. maybe we can reintroduce it in some form..![]()
I'm not familiar with them I'm afraid, but I'd like to think that our current FOE Previews are keeping you abreast of what Team-RTR is getting up to.![]()
The sense of a community with the same interest and loyalty. From the administrators to moderators, developers(the instantly recognizable dev tag meant something there) to the regular members. It was a much closer group and before the first downtime, to me, it also seemed much friendlier. And stricter moderated. Trolls seemed to be less breast nurtured there. Basically it was an entire community geared up for the same purpose, which was rtr. Here it`s just a department store with people stopping over in their walk through the whole mall. Didn`t mean to offend anyone with the comparison btw.
EDIT: the old previews... You`ve only missed the map preview which was also previewed here and a few more units(not more than a dozen). While the rtr forums were up, very little(comparatively) RTR 7 work was shown and probably done. It made much better progress here I think.

Apparently all the old posts are available 'somewhere' as they were archived.
We managed to bring back the forums for a while back in October 2005 - I was asked to helpl out bringing back some of the old topics - they had lost the titles and we had to guess what they were. Unfortunately, the forum eventually died due to some technical reason that I am not aware of.
They did come back and disappeared a few times before they were eventually 'lost'.
There were a number of excellent AARs out there which must be sorely missed.

None taken Florin, there is a lot of nostalgia for the old forum and there was a lot of good there but as stated above, circumstances beyond the team's control resulted in its demise. To continue, it was essential that Team-RTR had a means of communicating with its loyal following, and TWC offered, and still does in my opinion, the best way of doing that. TWC is a much larger entity and can seem impersonal and less "cosy", but as a long term member of this forum I think TWC is an incredibly lively, diverse and friendly community, which allows us to share our vision with a much wider audience than we would otherwise have.
Admittedly, TWC as an entity, is not geared up for the sole benefit and focus of RTR, but our section is pretty much what we want to make it and depends on the input of all of us. Moderation is different here as we have to adhere to the TWC TOS, but they are hardly draconian and as TWC Admin does not get involved in the day to day running of things we are effectively self monitoring. So if you think that the style of moderation is different then that is down to me and the rest of the team, because we are not being leaned on "from above".
Even if RTR was to set up its own forum again the "good old days" would never return, not because the team is less impassioned or focused on its goals, but because the team is almost completely different today. The RTR forum reflected the style of its members back then, as the style today is very much that of the current team. Better? Worse? Well it's different, it can't but be that. RTR is a phenomenon, and it never ceases to amaze me that, even as our longest term and experienced members leave for other pastures, new people with the same vision and passion step forward to continue the journey. The team may be different and the following smaller from the "old days" but the dedication and commitment is still there, and I don't think we could ask for a more loyal, understanding and patient following.
It's been a bumpy path getting to where we are today, but while have friends and supporters like yourself (nobody forget that Florin was, effectively, TIC 1.1!) I'm not too concerned about the future.
We do still have the raw database Pann so, in theory, we can still extract from it, but I've no idea how much work would be involved.
